spiked chain slayer

Advice

I'm looking to build a slayer with a spiked chain. I need advice for building it. Please help.

Heya, here's the help you want.

1. Get sky high Dex. Second, you have a choice of going high Con for better front-lining, or going high Int for more skills and higher DCs. Finally, get some Wis and some Con or Int. You can dump Cha if you don't want to be a face.

2. For archetypes, the only one you can take is the Stygian Slayer, or go vanilla.

3. First feat you get is Weapon Finesse, since you want to hit stuff with 10 Strength. Second feat you get (at level 3) is Exotic Weapon Prof: Spiked Chain. If you are Human, get it at level 1. If you are a Half-Elf, get Ancestral Arms to get it at level 1. If you are a Half-Orc, you can get the Chain Fighter trait for proficiency in the Spiked Chain. Any other race needs to wait until level 3. While waiting, you can use a Rapier.

4. For Slayer Talents, you want to use your 2nd level and 6th level talents on Two-Handed Combat Style bonus feats. Get Power Attack first and Furious Focus later. After that, you are free to take whatever you want.

5. That's it, you are free to take the rest of the feats on Weapon Focus or stuff like that.

Just play a Half-Elf and built it like any other two-hander. If you're looking to make a trip build you can go Bounty Hunter.

Don't go Bounty Hunter. You NEED that 2nd level Power Attack to make you have good damage until you get an Agile Spiked Chain later.

You don't need to go Half-Elf either. Half-Orc can go Chain Fighter and Humans can pick the extra feat.

Here's a build up to level 8 just so you can have an idea.

SPECIAL ABILITIES
=================================================
Chain Fighter Some half-orcs have escaped from slavery and reforged the chains of their imprisonment into deadly weapons. Half-orcs with this racial trait are proficient with flails and heavy flails, and treat dire flails and spiked chains as martial weapons. This trait replaces the weapon familiarity racial trait.

Combat Style I (Ex) The slayer selects a ranger combat style and gains a combat feat from the first feat list of that style. He can choose feats from his selected combat style, even if he does not have the normal prerequisites.

Combat Style II (Ex) The slayer gains another combat style bonus feat and can add the 6th level bonus feats to the list.

Darkvision (Ex) Range 60 ft.; Darkvision is the extraordinary ability to see with no light source at all, out to a range specified for the creature. Darkvision is black and white only (colors cannot be discerned). It does not allow characters to see anything that they could not see otherwise-invisible objects are still invisible, and illusions are still visible as what they seem to be. Likewise, darkvision subjects a creature to gaze attacks normally. The presence of light does not spoil darkvision.

Deadly Range A slayer with this talent increases the range at which he can deal sneak attack damage by 10 feet. This talent can be taken multiple times.

Deadly Range (Ex) A slayer with this talent can deal sneak attack damage at 40 feet distance.

Indomitable Faith You were born in a region where your faith was not popular, yet you never abandoned it.

Orc Blood (Ex) Half-orc count as both humans and orcs for any effect related to race.

Resilient Growing up in a violent neighborhood or in the unforgiving wilds often forced you to subsist on food and water from doubtful sources.

Sacred Tattoo Tattoos, piercings, and ritual scarification are sacred markings to many half-orcs. Half-orcs with this racial trait gain a +1 luck bonus on all saving throws. This racial trait replaces the orc ferocity racial trait.

Shamans Apprentice Only the most stalwart survive the years of harsh treatment that an apprenticeship to an orc shaman entails. Half-orcs with this trait gain Endurance as a bonus feat.

Sneak Attack (Ex) If you can catch an opponent when he is unable to defend himself effectively from your attack, you can strike a vital spot for extra damage. [2d6]

Stalker (Ex) A slayer gains a +2 bonus on Disguise, Intimidate, and Stealth checks against his studied opponent.

Studied Target (Ex) A slayer can study an opponent to gain a +2 bonus on Bluff, Knowledge, Perception, Sense Motive, and Survival checks attempted against that opponent, and a +2 bonus on weapon attack and damage rolls against it. The DCs of slayer class abilities against that opponent increase by 2. A slayer can only maintain these bonuses against 2 opponents at a time; these bonuses remain in effect until either the opponent is dead or the slayer studies a new target. If a slayer deals sneak attack damage to a target, he can study that target as an immediate action, allowing him to apply his studied target bonuses against that target (including to the normal weapon damage roll). The slayer may discard this connection to a studied target as a free action, allowing him to study another target in its place. A slayer can study an opponent he can see as a move or swift action.

Track (Ex) You gain +4 to Survival checks made to follow tracks.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency A slayer is proficient with all simple and martial weapons, as well as with light armor, medium armor, and shields (except tower shields).

Scarab Sages

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Stygian Slayer is pretty thematic for a Spiked Chain user in Golarion. You could be a Kuthite, raised in Nidal, or are just touched by the power of Zon Kuthon in some way without your knowledge.
