PFS Cleric Build-Needs a Little Assistance

Advice

I am rolling a Cleric for PFS and have a few questions regarding several things. First, my vision for this character will be mostly based in Channeling positive energy to both heal party members and to damage undead when appropriate. Here is what I have so far:

Nagaji Cleric (will pick up 1 level of Lore Oracle for the ability to use CHA modifier as my AC bonus other than DEX)

Str:14
Dex: 7
Con:14
Int:10
Wis:14
Cha:18

Domain: Animal and Weather - Diety: Gozreh

I will pick up cheap armor for level 1, but when I dip the level in Oracle I will turn to Wands for AC. My first question is: Do armor spells stack with one another? Shield, Mage Armor...and I understand I cannot wear armor with Mage Armor, but can I use a shield?

I will be tailoring my Traits and Feats to give benefit to my Channeling ability.

Trait: Exalted Society- +1 Channel
Trait: Sacred Conduit- +1 to DC on Save

Feat: Selective Channeling
Feat: Extra Channel
Feat: Boon Companion (raise level of Wolf)
Feat: Improved Channel (+2 to Save on DC)

In theory, I will move into combat (most likely with a Trident, though I may choose a Longspear for reach) and attempt to flank with my wolf. Wolf will trip, and I will poke poke poke. Channel to heal as needed, and channel to harm undead if we find undead wandering about.

How valid is this build?

Also, Use Magic Device (for wands)....do I need to have the Skill in order to attempt to use the wand? If so I will need to take the trait that adds that as a Class skill.

Grand Lodge

Valid build...but channeling is by far one of the weakest ways to play a cleric other then do nothing clerics.

As for UMD you can use wands of your spells without UMD. If you want spell off your list you need UMD.

Id lower your cha and bring your dex to a 10.

The Exchange

remember that spending so many resources to increase the dc of your channel for a very situational thing also as fruian said it is a very weak option for clerics.

on a side note I believe that there is a very good reach cleric guide somewhere which may be in the direction that you are going.

armor (like breast plate) does not stack with mage armor spell as they both give armor bonuses to AC.
shield (like heavy steel shield) does not stack with shield spell as they both give armor bonuses to AC.
breastplate stacks with shield spell as one provides an armor bonuses to ac and the other provides a shield bonus to AC.
dodge bonuses always stack. I think deflection bonuses also stack. I will look for a short time - i think there is a chart on paizo prd regarding stacking of AC bonuses.

You can still wear armor with mage armor, but only one of the bonuses applies. As the GM, I would rule that the Armor Check Penalty and the maximum dexterity still apply if you chose the Mage Armor AC modifier over the armor.

I don't see it on the prd.

On the srd use the ctrl+f command and insert
Bonuses are numerical

Deflection bonuses do not stack with each other. There is one other important quote regarding AC bonuses that I will look for briefly.

“A creature can also add any circumstance, deflection, dodge, insight, luck, morale, profane, and sacred bonuses to AC to its CMD.”

meaning: if you have one or more of those bonuses to AC, you can also apply those bonuses to your CMD

Question regarding Boon Companion feat...

If a 4th level Cleric/1st level Oracle with the Animal Domain picks up his Wolf and uses Boon Companion as his level 5 feat, will the AC be level 5?

If not, this build is basically dead in the water as part of my desire revolves around a capable pet.

Also, while I understand that channeling is perceived to be a weak option for Clerics I havent seen that yet. Granted, My son and I are only level 4 so perhaps its good at early levels but levels off and declines at higher levels?

Honestly, in our scenarios he has been the only healer and his channeling has prevented at least two deaths to characters.

And what is the reasoning for raising my Dex and dropping my Cha? With the Lore Oracle mystery Sidestep Secret I will be using my Cha modifier for my AC and saves.

Yes (Level 5 AC). I do not know if Boon Companion is allowed in PFS.

I believe the Feather Subdomain is WAY better than the Animal Domain

Interesting, never really saw the subdomain stuff. Feather still gives an AC, plus Fly skill and bonus to Perception. Good stuff.
