Dire Animals as companions

Silver Crusade 1/5

Can a dire tiger be taken as a companion? You can buy one according to the animal archive. If you have a dire tiger you should be able to do the same ritual you do for any other animal companion then train him.

Note. This is for Druids, Hunters or Ranger-Beasmasters and other arch types that do not have a restricted companion list.

God, I wish. It would be great to have a bear that isn't smaller than a wolf. Sadly no, they aren't on the companion lists, for PFS or the game in general.

Additional Resources

Animals on pages 14-15 are legal for purchase except dinosaurs and megafauna ... and dire animals.

You cannot have one as a companion, and you cannot even buy them.

Grand Lodge 4/5

Most dire animals (certainly those in the first Bestiary) don't have animal companion progressions, so no rules resource exists to be legalised. If it has published stats as an animal companion, check Additional Resources.

Nope. No rules for doing so exist in Pathfinder.

Nope. The Additional Resources document actually calls this out as not allowed.

Nope. There are no stats for such a companion in any rules source.

Nope.

But I found out this weekend that if you use Call animal to bring in a dire bear, they're pretty badass.

Take a long hard look at the level 7 stat adjustments of a large cat animal companion and compare them to a dire tiger, that is pretty much what you get.
