Sovereign Court

Hi there! This is a recruitment thread for the PFS-legal section of Book 1 of Mummy's Mask - 'The Half Dead City':

A Pathfinder adventure for 1st and 2nd level characters.

In the city of Wati, the church of Pharasma holds a lottery allowing explorers to delve the tombs of the city's vast necropolis in search of the nation's lost glories. In the course of investigating dusty tombs the heroes encounter ancient guardians and devious traps - will the adventurers defeat these obstacles, or will they fall to the undead defenders of the city's necropolis?

Written by Jim Groves.

If you are interested in playing, let me know :-)

Please note that this game is part of the Official Pathfinder Society PbP Game Day. For more information please follow the link here.

The official start date of the PbP Game Day (and hence for this scenario) is on November 1st, 2014.

The PbP Game Day end date is February 1st, 2015.

Are you planning on running the whole AP? If so, then I am interested. If not then I will stick with what I have.

Sovereign Court

I think that I would have trouble running (as a PbP) the whole AP in three months ;-)

If you are not otherwise full, I will roll up a healer. If six other people are interested, most likely so, then I will withdraw my claim.

Silver Crusade

I'd be interested in this.

Alright, I will roll up a skald if others do not fill it up.

Are you taking the first six PFS legal players or will you keep the recruitment open until later in the month and select a team from all of the applicants?

Sovereign Court

Well, if this were a 'home game' PbP, yes, I would select applicants, but since this is a PFS game, in the same way that I would not 'pick and choose' from the people who turned up to a game day that I was running, I will not do so here.

So, essentially, yes, I will take the first six applicants. If there are more than that, I will see about creating a second table, and trying to balance them as much as possible.

Scarab Sages

I'm interested..just checking to be sure is this going to be the PFS parts or the entire first module? (I'm in either way)

I'll have to think what I'd want to play though..but I have a lot of lvl 1's (maybe 2's) who have some xp on them

Sovereign Court

As mentioned in the first line of my initial post, this will be for the PFS-legal portion of the first book ;-)

Scarab Sages

I got confused when you mentioned having trouble getting through the whole AP in 3 months ...sounded like a challenge ;)

Sovereign Court

Ah, no, that was a response to Nohwear about running the whole AP - not something that I feel is achievable in three months ;-)

Just to be clear:

This is for Book 1 (the PFS adaptable section) only.

Sovereign Court

If you've got a spot I'd be interested

Scarab Sages

I am very interested in your game. My magus would love to join the group. She is now 2nd level.

Liberty's Edge

this is Robert Henry's entry, a ranger (trapper) who finished the confirmation that espiers to become an eldrich knight, I will update his gear and be ready by Nov. 1

Pray tell, might I join you on this fine endeavor?

Sovereign Court

I'd like to join if there's a spot. Fighter 1.

Sovereign Court

Current List:

1) Dr Strang (Cleric 1)
2) Revvy Bitterleaf (???)
3) Stemboy (???)
4) Dolres (Magus 2)
5) Eldlen Meirdrerel (Ranger(Trapper)2)
6) Erevan Duskstar (Fighter 1)

Alt 1) Nohwear (Skald 1)

If we generate sufficient interest, I *could* be tempted to run a second table - let's see how we go :-)

I am completely retracting interest.

Sovereign Court

@Nohwear: No worries!

Current List:

1) Dr Strang (Cleric 1)
2) Revvy Bitterleaf (???)
3) Stemboy (???)
4) Dolres (Magus 2)
5) Eldlen Meirdrerel (Ranger(Trapper)1)
6) Erevan Duskstar (Fighter 1)

Scarab Sages

Thank you!

Dark Archive

I'm quite tempted to bring my boreal sorcerer. I need to upload his information but since we're lacking dedicated arcane it might help.

heads up to the DM:
I ran the first book and it took 2.5 months to get through it all, and that is not cutting out roleplay completely, but half-assing it and doing whatever else I can to try to speed things up. I recommend reading through it all ahead of time, so you help pacing it. Calculate how many dungeons there are, how many pages each dungeon takes up, and how many pages from the start of the adventure is to the end of the adventure. All I got to say is, good luck getting this done in time and still telling the story well, because it is going to be hard.

Sovereign Court

DoubleGold:
I am aware that running the entire first book *would* take some time - but the PFS-legal section is 'just' the first two dungeons, so I am fairly confident that I will be able to get through it :-)

Scarab Sages

Just to let you know before we begin I am making some purchases.
I am buying a
silver masterwork battle axe 400 gd
Cold Iron masterwork battle axe 340 gd
and selling my old battle axe for 10
Please let me know if I mis-calculated anything thanks.

I'm up for this. Would probably have to roll a new character and thinking about an oracle for this.

Will have stats etc up soon :)

Liberty's Edge

@Luke (Jolly Here) thinking about doing a nature oracle and they can gain a combat mount. I want to take a half elf, but could I take the wolf companion as I am not going to use it for riding, but merely as battle companion? Taking a large horse with me kinda makes tomb hunting difficult ;).

Hoping for a second table!

Sovereign Court

@Delphine/Jolly: Unfortunately, as this is for PFS credit, you can't make house rules :-/

That said, if all you want is a battle companion, have you considered the Lunar Mystery? One of the options for the 'battle companion' you gain from that is a Wolf :-)

Liberty's Edge

I'm juggling nature and life mysteries. First for more tankyness (21 ac at lvl 1 thank you) and second for mega healing and channeling which is bound to be useful ;).

Liberty's Edge

If you're not full up or need an alternate, here's my Ifrit Bard for consideration.

Cheers!

Liberty's Edge

Eldlen is now updated, I believe everything is in order, if not please let me know. Also, I would like to spend his two prestige points for a wand of healing.

Dark Archive

Count me in too if there is room, or a second table. I am willing to make up a character to fill most any role.

Liberty's Edge

Moar people for a second table!

I would love to come if a second table opens up. I have a lot of 1s and 2s, so it would just depend on table make-up.

Sovereign Court

Current List:

1) Dr Strang (Cleric 1)
2) Revvy Bitterleaf (???)
3) Hinrik Larsen (Sorceror 1)
4) Dolres (Magus 2)
5) Eldlen Meirdrerel (Ranger(Trapper)1)
6) Erevan Duskstar (Fighter 1)
7) Delphine Tarrasquel (Oracle 1)
8) Ajah Denasi (Bard 1)
9) Skorn (???)
10) GM Hills (???)

Dark Archive

I'm Sorcerer 2 btw, just in case that becomes important for party make up.

Sovereign Court

@Hinirk: Fair enough :-)

Current List:

1) Dr Strang (Cleric 1)
2) Revvy Bitterleaf (???)
3) Hinrik Larsen (Sorceror 2)
4) Dolres (Magus 2)
5) Eldlen Meirdrerel (Ranger(Trapper)1)
6) Erevan Duskstar (Fighter 1)
7) Delphine Tarrasquel (Oracle 1)
8) Ajah Denasi (Bard 1)
9) Skorn (???)
10) GM Hills (???)

+1 for the second table!

I still don't know what i will be playing since it will be a new character.

Liberty's Edge

I think I'll go for the life oracle. It seems we can use the healing.

Dark Archive

Remind me if we need to be PFS legal for this run. I know we can get PFS credit but it can be applied to another character, right?

DM if you do make a 2nd table, I'd be interested.

dm:
obviously since I dmed I know the stuff, if that is okay. Make it so that I can only search for traps when another character/player tells me too? Make is so that I can only make out-of-battle skill checks when another character/player tells me too? That way I can still contribute outside of battle by making the skill checks. Or if you are the dm that puts a skill check on the board and a spoiler to it, then I make the skill check? Only make out-of-battle decisions when another player/character tells me to? In other words, if a locked/stuck door is in the way, I only bash it down if/when I'm told too or only pick the lock if told too? In other words I can do stuff outside battle but only when told to do them, or however you want this handled if I'm allowed to play-at-all. I'm thinking a front lined fighter(though not specifically the fighter class, as I kind of curious how hard this is under pfs rules. Have my character travel upfront outside combat, but alongside someone else so my character can be told what to do?

Sovereign Court

@Skorn: Yes, you need to be PFS legal, since we are running this as an 'adaptable', and not in campaign mode.

@DoubleGold: You are welcome to join :-)

DoubleGold:
For out-of-combat Knowledge checks, I usually use spoilers. You don't have to play completely dumb - if an action is something that you think your PC would reasonably do, then go for it! However, please try to *not* use prior knowledge to influence your decisions, if at all possible. For example, if you 'Take 20' on Perception all of the time, that's fine; walking up to a secret door at then searching for it is not.

Current List:

1) Dr Strang (Cleric 1)
2) Revvy Bitterleaf (???)
3) Hinrik Larsen (Sorceror 2)
4) Dolres (Magus 2)
5) Eldlen Meirdrerel (Ranger(Trapper)1)
6) Erevan Duskstar (Fighter 1)
7) Delphine Tarrasquel (Oracle 1)
8) Ajah Denasi (Bard 1)
9) Skorn (???)
10) GM Hills (???)
11) DoubleGold (???)

Silver Crusade

Sweet, here he is.

Dark Archive

Very good. Will you place the first 6 at one table and the second 6 at the next? Or will you try to balance things a little? I'll work up what I want to play today, but can remain flexible to fill a roll that is needed since I do not have a first level character to play.

Here is the break down - This might help folks decide. I have never played an alchemist and am thinking about trying that out.

Divine:
Dr Strang
Delphine Tarrasquel

Arcane:
Hinrik Larsen

Melee:
Erevan Duskstar
Eldlen Meirdrerel (some skills, obviously)
Dolres

Skills:
Ajah Denasi

Undecided:
Revvy Bitterleaf
Skorn (Me)
GM Hills
DoubleGold

Silver Crusade

Scorn, doublegold here, elf barbarian is my category.

Liberty's Edge

I would recommend splitting up the higher levels as well. They have wands of clw etc with them which will be useful for all the new lvl 1s ;)

Liberty's Edge

I've got PP from my first session I haven't spent yet to get a wand of Cure Light, and I think I'll be adding another Chronicle from DM credit to get some more gold and PP to spend before the game starts.

Sovereign Court

I am intending to split-up the level 2s, and the people with some adventures under there belts.

For people sitting on the fence regarding what to play, I recommend having some heavy-hitters, and a trap-finder per party; whilst this may be *meant* for level 1-2 characters, there are some moderately difficult sections.

Scarab Sages

I don't have a trapfinder..I think I'll be bringing a non-mounted lvl 2 cavalier then and to try to be the heavy-hitter

Dark Archive

I've been toying with making a dwarven trapsmith. I don't mind making one instead of using Hinrik?

Shadow Lodge

I would like to join the second table if there is still room. I have a 3rd level sorcerer or a druid 1/wizard 1 wanna-be mystic theurge available.
