Beyond Character Death

Is there any precedent, or guidance on how to handle situations where enemies left with PC bodies might make them un raiseable?

Would certain organizations such as the Technic League, go to great pains in order to prevent a corpse from being raised in order to prevent the spread of their coveted knowledge? I.E. would they burn the body or cast disintegrate on a corpse who had their secret knowledge?

Other examples:
Body left with a necromancer or horde of hungry undead.

At what point would it be wrong to make someone pay for a resurrection or even a true resurrection? What if it is not an effect specifically called out in a scenario but would logically follow? I.E. Swallowed whole by a Remorhaz?

Not unless the scenario specifically says that they do. No matter how much sense it makes otherwise, the dm cannot do that to the character.

The character is already dead.

Chances are pretty good the DM screwed up something that contributed to that as it is.

There is absolutely no need to pour salt on the wound, and very likely make the character unressurectable by requiring spells they probably can't afford the prestige points and gold for.

Its already enough of a pain in the rear. There's no need to twist the knife.

The rules for PFS are run as written. If the scenario doesn't say it, for the most part, then it doesn't happen and can't happen.

The dead players are allowed standard resurrection methods unless the scenario or written monster tactics would make it impossible. You can't change things so that it's harder / impossible for a raise dead / body recovery.

I have always allowed a raise dead for every PC death at my tables. Which I agree is punishment enough in almost every case. There are some clear cut cases, i.e. PC killed by a death effect or a disintegrate where this is not an option. One I still question is how would you handle swallow whole with time passing?

While the spell closes mortal wounds and repairs lethal damage of most kinds, the body of the creature to be raised must be whole. Otherwise, missing parts are still missing when the creature is brought back to life.

Well, there's basically 3 categories of Dead, those that can be fixed with a Raise, those that require a Resurrection, and those that require a True Resurrection. Swallow Whole I'd probably put in the Resurrection category, unless the body was very quickly removed.

I think most of the other posters are making the point that, generally speaking, characters should be considered to be in the lowest category that seems reasonable. If a PC gets killed by Disintegrate, that's got to be a Resurrection, but if they die by a greataxe crit (fixable by raise dead), then doing something to make it a resurrection-level problem is excessive, unless an explicit part of the scenario (perhaps leaving the body behind in a self-destructing dungeon).
