PSAs FOR THE NEW PALYERS: Read this before you play!

Pathfinder Online

1. Do not do not DO NOT ever attack a Thornguard. Period. Even if they attack you first. They NEVER FORGET and NEVER FORGIVE.

2. If you do attack a Thornguard, you can always move to another town.

3. Try to avoid the wolf in the starter towns that is located directly in the path between the fighter training stuff and the wizard training stuff. The wolf will attack you, and that also triggers the Thornguard to attack you, which 9 times out of 10 results in death.

4. Don't be afraid to ask for help!

5. If anything stops working, or NPCs disappear, etc., the first rule is to log out and log back in. Pretty much anytime anything goes wrong, that is the fix for it.

6. You should have about 30 silver coins when you start the game- which is a lot. Drop by the Auction House and check for Tier 1 Armor and Weapons. Don't worry about implements for now.

7. Right outside of town is a great place to get some practice killing things and familiarizing yourself with the controls. Goblins drop lots neat stuff for a new character to have. When you get comfy killing goblins, you can travel further afield- the hexes around starter settlements should only have level 1 mobs- or mostly lvl 1, anyways.

8. Visit this thread to see a list of players and their character names that are available for more in-depth assistance in game, should you require it.

9. DO NOT ATTACK THE THORNGUARD.

10. If another player attacks you, don't freak out! Either turn and attack them back (it doesn't hurt your rep to defend yourself!) or simply run away. Report it to the general thread and I am sure some young, dashing heroes will be on their way to kill the attacker ;)

I'm curious aobut htis one. I've been playing since day one of the 8 client and haven't accumulated 30 sp yet. Does anyone else find themselves starting with 30?

No I don't think you start with coin.

Appears to have been a misunderstanding. For new people, the only way to see your copper is to look in the "all" tab of inventory. So if you've killed lots of stuff, and never visited the bank or auction house, you may have many copper there about which you did not know.

When you visit the bank of Auction House, it gets auto-deposited, and will only show in the bank unless you actively withdraw it.

Ah, and i cannot change it.

We sorted out my confusion: I had about 3K in copper when the AH went in, so naturally i then had 30 silver once all of that coin got converted. WOOPS!

The simplest way to start regardless of what you eventually want to be if no one is around to give you gear:

1. Find the free shortbow vendor. She stand next to the rogue trainer in front of what look like a 2 storey house and gives you a maximum of two free shortbows.

2. Go to the skirmisher and train the shortbow attack called "distant shot" so you can shoot from 35m away.

3. Equip your free shortbow. First hit "P" to bring up the paper doll fitting screen. Now hit "I" to bring up your inventory. Go to "weapons' in inventory and find the shortbow and select it - the correct place on the paperdoll fitting window will be highlighted, drag it in.

4. You should now see your distant shot feat in the UI at the screen bottom. Go to the edge of town and find the single goblins standing around. Tab to target one of them, move closer slowly until the distant shot icon becomes available and then start shooting. Run away if you take damage.

5. If you shoot enough goblins you will start to acquire loot including eventually better weapons and some armor.

Sorry if this sounds silly but I can't actually see where to download the client?

I have the email that says I can download it now but nothing to say where I can get it from?

In the above post, follow the link to Goblinworks, on the right hand side you will see Installer in a blue box, click on that.

In the email there's a link to the installer. Right now the Goblinworks home page does not have a button for the Stress Test players to install the game. According to Ryan, there will be an Install button on the home page for the Stress Test players soon. For now, use the link inside the email.

Also, it is worth noting that at 9AM Pacific Standard Time the servers shut down briefly for maintenance. So if you suddenly drop to log in, check the time!

Thank you for all that help.
I have just one simgle question about something I couldn't figure how yesterday : How do you mend your stuff ? Mine seems damaged (the first kobold warriors hit hard) and i can't find how to repair it....

Goblin Squad Member

As of now you can not repair.

I will be a BIG money maker for crafters, so they are very much looking for that day to arrive ... :)

Goblin Squad Member

so, if your weapon/armor is broken, you can just throw it away?

Goblin Squad Member

Since they've not yet added encumbrance back in, you might want to hang onto broken items, in case repair makes it into the game first.
