Up to 32 submissions now, and ONLY ONE WEEK LEFT!
Bestiary: 7
Class: 6
Fiction: 6 (although 3 come from 1 author)
Fluff: 4 (1 gazetteer)
Magic Items: 1
Poetry/Songs: 1
Sidetrek Seeds: 3
Weal or Woe: 4
Missing anything in the way of Crunch still (think spells, feats, alternative/expanded rules), and only 1 magic item article is pretty slim.
Our usual total tally at the end of one of these calls is around 70-80, but for really popular themes (like Cheliax), we pushed well over 100 submissions. So, we are a little less than halfway to where we need to end up.
I know a lot of you are working on things now. I'm looking forward to seeing them!
Carry on! And happy holidays!

House flooded so I haven't had time to learn some fancy schmancy mapping software. I'll try to write up some haunts instead.
You don't need to submit a "fancy" map just a rough one. If your article gets selected for inclusion then Tim will select an artist to clean it up and add the fancy. ;)

Since I have no idea what sugarplums are, I seem to have visions of a (cursed?) magic items submission dancing around in my head.
It's about 850 words so far. Will work on either cutting it back or fleshing it out. (Ha. Nobody's going to believe I'm cutting it back... I'll be lucky if I can keep it under 1500 words!)

I know it probably doesn't fit the Ustalav-theme, but I kinda wish someone would do a riff on the creepy Elf on the Shelf.
Edit: Oooo, maybe an article on creepy holiday traditions in Ustalav?

That would be good: taking classic holidays and making them scary and evil.
Actually, I had an idea for one: The feast of Urgathoa, I'll write it up later tonight.

That IS creepy all in itself already.

I did think it would be interesting to see December holidays from an Ustalav perspective (after all, December is Kuthona...).
One of the holidays in Kuthona is the Night of the Pale on the 31st - which the ISWG says is a day when people wait indoors for the ghosts of people who have died in the last year to pass by. That sounds very Ustalav.
There is also the Desnan holiday of Stardust which falls on the sumer and winter solstices. Not creepy sounding (though it might be more interesting in Versex...) but I'd like to see a creepy take on it. Along the same lines, I'd love to see a creepy take on Winter Week - which seems to be about right for Elf on the Shelf. (Unless you go with Stardust or the winter solstice holiday of Crystalhue which is celebrated by Shelyn followers.)
This is not in Kuthona, but Pharasma gets one special day, and it's creepy. The 5th of Pharasma is the Day of Bones on which apparently "Pharasmins parade the recent dead in a procession, then inter corpses for free." Sounds pretty creepy!

Sent in three magic items centered around the basic idea of relics; they might need some reflavoring though.
I hope to finish a sidetrek seed before 31st and need the help from you guys: I'm looking for a monster which is associated with cages, jail(er)s, chains and such; my strongest bet is on a kyton or hamatula (but the latter has a too high CR methinks). Any ideas?
Ruyan.
[b]Edit:]/b]Cerberi would certainly also fit the bill.

Your edit needs editing. Fixed it in the quote.
Another creature that might fit the bill is the handmaiden devil, but likely too high a CR (14) as well. Cerberi are used as jailers. Don't think it helps much though.

Ustalav is not very known for its devils or kytons. You could go with a bone themed prison and use a devourer. Long hidden, it could have wasted away and be less powerful for lower CR. Or attic whispers, children that while alive were caged and abandoned when a orphanage closed down.

Hm. That's true. Cerberus with the ghost template? Hehe.

Got a special magic item--an intelligent artifact--getting wrung through the writer's circle right now.
Is there a CR/level range you'd want for a Weal or Woe? I have a couple of folks that could really work at any level from about 3 on up, so I'm happy to stat them out at whatever level you want more of.

OK I think inspiration struck on my underwater, undead city. I think it is going to be a place where cursed items are worked on, the city exists because the dangerous items wouldn't be easy to find in case of a meltdown type incident (which may have happened already). Whether or not it was a result of the Tyrant trying to infiltrate the surrounding countries with cursed items remains to be seen...

CR 7 or below. For details: the submission guidelines are in post #1.

Right, but I think he usually finds it convenient to have a wide range across the allowed levels. If there are already 4 level 6-7 NPC pairs, a level 1-2 pair would probably be better than another 6-7. I was trying to get a sense of what level ranges he already had covered so I could fill the gaps.

Very thoughtful of you, Charlie!
Yes, in review of the Weal or Woes, they are all hitting the max limit of CR 6-7.
I don't know if that is just the way it is, with higher levels being more interesting, but it does leave quite a lack of lower level stuff. So, YES, Charlie, it'd be good to see something different.
And for those of you who sent those in, if you'd like to reconfigure yours to lower the levels (I could handle a CR 4-5 in there) slightly, let me know. No penalty for resubmitting. ;-)

Ustalav is for Ustalovers has now been submitted as a Side Trek Adventure. Thanks Sarah 'Ambrosia Slaad' Counts for the fun idea.
It's a little over word count, but if the items are moved to the item section, there should be enough room to add back the haunted gazebo I cut....
This should be a fun issue!

You know, I just realized. My two bestiary entries are plant based monsters designed to fight undead by native Druids.
Did I... Did I unwittingly introduce Plants vs. Zombies into the Inner Sea?
Ooh, undead-fighting plants sounds cool. I did up a 'Corpse Rot' fungus that fed off of necrotically-charged tissue for the Mwangi Expanse a while back, but as a deliberate druidic invention, it sounds even cooler. Having such interact with corporeal undead (zombies, ghouls, vampire) in particular, seems logical, as it tears apart their bodies, but a 'ghost touch creeper vine' able to affect incorporeal undead (perhaps growing over tombs in the jungles, forests or moors, trapping the incorporeal undead within?) could be neat...
Second article is away.
Submit early! Submit often! (Or, in this case; Submit just in the nick of time! Submit no more than three times!)

You'll have to ask the slaad; it's her title. :-)
I'm pretty happy with being able to turn a silly title and concept of a haunted romantic bed and breakfast into an actual adventure.
Probably not as strong as the Wayfinder 12 adventure, but far more potential for RP. One haunt in particular will potentially rile most groups.

Step 1: Laptop crashes! Well that's terrible. I was going to replace it soon anyway, and at least in the meantime I can work off of the backup hard drive and the work laptop.
Step 2: Backup HD fails! Oh now that is truly unfortunate. At least there's the online backups of some of the more recent data and the guides. I hope I can recover some of that, though.
Step 3: Online backup is corrupted! At least it's only partially. I may be able to submit something yet. I can probably save the items and feats, but the bestiary entry seems to be gone completely. Must not be deterred...

So I am on the way, pulling some midnight oil runs that is for sure. Good thing it's a light week here in the office so I have some time to finish up. Good thing I looked at the thread, cause a few of my ideas have already been snapped up.
I will admit, that keeping Pharasmin Penitence PG-13 has been a challenge. But a good one.
Only one gazetteer this issue? Hmm, perhaps I will now look at my notes and submit another one.

I'm just a Markov meme generator into which someone fed too much Golarion lore. :)
At the time, I was just silly riffing on the first thing that popped into my mind. I never expected Andrew to glean a germ of an actual article idea in it.

I think you're being too hard on yourself. I'm sure it'll be great, and I'm really anxious to read it.
