I am a huge fan of this particular model of Gundum, so I was thinking about buying the best pre-made figure/toy. Does anyone have any suggestions who might know a lot about these sort of things?

The 1/100th model was very nice. But you have to put it together. No glue or anything needed, just a model knife to cut the tabs away from the pieces. Doesn't take long to put together and I think it is a nice figure. It does change into it's "Jet" mode.
I'll look into it, but I am rather unskilled with that and well lazy. I want a no-hassel memento for now. Will probably later go and make a full model at some later date.
Look at the bandai site.
They usually have 1/60 scale "toys" that are pre-painted and are tougher.
I had an F-91 gundam one, costed 60 bucks at the time.
There still was assembly, but it was model-quality in detail.
If you want no hassle, no assembly you're looking at Bandai's action figure lines: Mobile Suits in Action and Robot Spirits.
MSiA is very much the 'toy' line as opposed to the 'collectable' one so probably not what you're looking for.
Looks like they run $60 to $70, about the same price as a larger, more detailed Gunpla MG kit.
Not too bad, but that lighting is so horrifically red. Had to look it up else where to see how it actually is colored.
