I'm hoping someone would be willing to do some hypothetical math for me.

Let's suppose that we've got a character, call her Alice, who can attack once per round at +15 to hit for 6d6+21 damage. (Just go with it, okay?)

Now let's suppose we have a second character, call him Bob, who can attack twice per round at +10 to hit, with each hit dealing 3d10+15 damage.

Now let's further suppose we have a third character, call her Charlene, who can attack four times per round, at +13 to hit, each time dealing 3d8+9 damage.

Finally, let's suppose we have a fourth character, call him Dan, who is exactly like Charlene except for an unfortunate -2 penalty on all attack rolls.

Against various target ACs, and without factoring in crits, how does the DPR compare on these four characters?

Thanks in advance for the math!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

At AC 10, the DPR is 39.9, 59.85, 85.5, and 85.5 for Alice, Bob, Charlene and Dan, respectively.

At AC 15, it's 39.9, 50.4, 85.5, and 76.9.

At 20, it's 33.6, 34.65, 63, and 54.

At 25, it's 23.1, 18.9, 40.5, and 31.5.

At 30, it's 12.6, 3.15, 18, and 9.

At AC 35 (or higher) it's 2.1, 3.15, 4.5, and 4.5.

What's this for?

Here is it in spreadsheet from AC 10 to 30 For Jiggy

EDIT: fixed off by one error
EDIT 2: fixed off by one error fix

I'm just glad we ended up with the same numbers. I was sure I was going to make a mistake somewhere.

Ya, I had to count a couple out on my fingers to get them right.

Thanks! Now what about if Charlene only has 2 attacks?

AC 10: 42.75

AC 15: 42.75
AC 20: 31.5
AC 25: 20.25
AC 30: 9
AC 35: 2.25

Assuming that Dan also only gets 2 now For Jiggy 2

I think he is trying to find a way to use less attacks in the game, but he wants to check the math first. I thought of this a while back, but characters with more attacks tended to be ahead except for extreme cases where the AC was really high.

Btw, those numbers do not take into account the loss of dpr for the attack penalty of iterative attacks.

Good, because none of this involved iteratives. :)
