A new archetype? A new prestige class?

Thanks to the Archetype mechanic, I can explore some new options for magic. Since magic books are a dime a dozen, I still want to work on ideas I had for the d20 system for a long time, but I have been unable to so thanks to College -- until now. Secrets of magic revisits the ideas I had for a while, but unable to express beautifully. (So far Pathfinder has the flexibility to bring these ideas to life, D&D 5th work requires some tweaking.)

-- Mathamagician --
Imagine that some people believe that mathematics is the cornerstone of the Universe. That the universe has an underlying order and law to it. Imagine that this belief is so deeply ingrained that magic can work around the Absolutes. The Mathamagician builds on the mysticism of the inherent order of the Universe. A polar opposite to the Primalist, the Mathamagician uses mathematical formulae to create magic spells. Some people find God in prayer and study of scripture, others find God in geometry and Mathematics.

details in mind:

  • New Archetype: Mathamagician -- the polar opposite to the Primalist.
  • New Skill -- Knowledge: Mathematics. Basic math literacy -- adding and subtracting and possibly multiplying and dividing small numbers -- is known by all. Knowledge: Mathematics is divorced from Knowledge: Arcana to bring tighter literacy into the higher maths. From algebra to theoretical calculus.
  • New Feat -- Mystic Geometry.
  • New focused school -- Geometric arcane school?

-- Quantum Mage ---

Forgive the technobabble. A quanta is a small energy or matter packet, something like how light is progagated in particles and waves. The Quantum Mage is a prestige class designed for Metamagic Feats. So a more proper name is Metamagician, however "Quantum" is technobabble meant to get your attention and it automatically gets my point across. Non-existent quasars and non-existant black holes not with standing.

Ideas since forever:

  • A prestige class based entirely around metamagic feats.
  • Still deciding if the character gives up spells for greater power over how he meta-magics.
  • Reprinting all the metamagic feats from Pathfinder for easy -on hand- reference (Maybe).

-----------------------

I had some wierd ideas on expanding the Elementalist archetypes some more, at least forever. Adding a few spells and getting into how the Four States of Matter works with the four classical elements.

Solids -- Earth.

Liquids -- Water.

Gasses -- Air.

Plasma -- Fire(?) (Wikipedia defines flame as: A flame (from Latin flamma) is the visible, gaseous part of a fire. It is caused by a highly exothermic reaction taking place in a thin zone. Some flames are hot enough to have ionized gaseous components of sufficient density to be considered plasma.)

-------------------------

-- Alchemist --
I wondered how I can get Sir Issac Newton's recipes into the game. His Alchemy was all about investigating the secrets of the Universe. His recipe for distillation of mineral oils (Hydrochloric Acid and Sulfuric Acid) has a direct application to the game, but the Net and the Star of Regulus are different things entirely. I'll have to think on this one more. :)
