Arlantia of Fangwood

Homebrew and House Rules

If you're in my Roll20 group, go back.

I'm currently planning out the two significant villains of a homebrew campaign's second arc (Levels 5-9).

The Subject at Hand:
While I've already determined the statblock of one (Invidiak with some modifications, mostly a wider number of alignment vulnerabilities), I would like to know if there exists a stat block for Arlantia, a corrupted dryad occupying the deepest parts of Southern Fangwood in Nirmathas (Inner Sea World Guide, Pages 140-141).

Failing this, I'd likely add the blighted fey template from the Inner Sea Bestiary to a Dryad, then add a few class-levels of something like hunter, slayer, or ranger, although suggestions for equipment for her to have is appreciated. I intend the fight to be alongside a few shamblers, so it will likely only be 2 or three class-levels, and so that players will be around the same level as Arlantia itself, but with terrain and minions making the fight an appropriate difficulty

Thanks in advance.

There's no stat block. I looked for one for quite a while.

My experience::
My own players just made that same kill. I didn't actually use the blighted fey template. Just pieces of it, along with several levels of sorcerer. I had my players run a gauntlet of fey to get to her, along with a few traps along the way. The final fight with her was solo, but I really wish I had added a pair of shambling mounds with her.

Thanks again.

As for your wish, yeah, there's a point where adding minions does more for an enemy's power than class-levels, especially if the minion has different strengths from the 'main event' so to speak.

If you don't mind my asking, what led your players to fighting her in the first place?

Reason for my group:
They'll be part of an army of Molthune that found a unique way into Nirmathas, and have currently been razing their way southwards, when Arlantia starts taking land hard and fast. The players end up using the same way the army got in to get behind Arlantia's front lines, and then make a B-line to her lair.

My players have basically been on a grueling land journey to make their way home. While heading through the Fangwood, there was a huge surge in the blight due to Arlantia offing a few of the druids that were in power in Crystalhurst. My players arrived in Crystalhurst, and were fooled by a Druid that had turned coat and joined Arlantia. He offered to empty the coffers of the town if they could find a way to stop the blight. They spent quite a while in Fangwood itself, and gained a few levels before ever tracking Arlantia down.

And yeah, I know minions can add to the fight. I was planning on having minions with her. But I had players missing that night as a last minute thing and had to do some quick changes.

Ah, I know the feeling. But after having tried both removing monsters and lowering things like static damage and AC, I find that the second one generally works better. Dropping an entire monster can drop the CR way faster than tweaking its stats.

Thank you both. just gave my an idea for an added layer to an upcoming quest set in a forest.

I'll be looking into making a cr 6-8 corrupted dryad as well.

Let us know what class levels you give it and how it works out :)

Has anyone worked up a statblock for Arlantia yet?

Campaign I intended to use this on died, and nobody picked it up after that.
