chainsaw and silence spell

Rules Questions

I was wondering how much it would cost to get a chainsaw permanently enchanted with the silence spell as I want to be a slayer dual welding them.

Can't comment on cost, but... Chainsaws are two-handed. Sry buddy.

As for the cost it will depend on the GM. The magic item section has guidelines not rules on pricing magic items.

And what Artemis said. :)

Getting around them being two handed is no big deal. The silence thing sounds like a custom magic item, so consult your gm.

Grand Lodge

Wand of Zone of Silence, or custom items.

would a silenced chainsaw negate the bonus to intimidate, as the enemies can't here the chainsaw.

Well you couldn't intimidate with sounds (like in a horror movie where you can hear them but not see the guy yet)

but honestly I will be more scared of the guy with chainsaw I can't hear waving it towards me than the guy whose is noisy.
so i don't think it'd lose the intimidate in occasions where your visual

Grand Lodge

Wands of Muffle Sound would work.

It would last longer than Silence.

honestly... a chainsaw not running on combustion probably isn't that loud...

1 person marked this as a favorite.

By the rules, it's this loud: "causing anyone carrying an activated chainsaw to take a -10 penalty on Stealth checks. "

That's the same as an active battle or rotting garbage. It directly counteracts the modifier for being asleep, so sleeping people hear you like they were awake.

Now, the part I think would be hilarious is that it only affects the person carrying the chainsaw. So get a +1 Called Chainsaw and give it to the party clanky. There's always one, Paladin, Cleric, someone with heavy armor, no dex, and no ranks in stealth. Stealth in ahead of them and when the monsters notice the clanky, teleport the chainsaw to you and go all horror movie on the monsters.
