Clockwork Prosthesis + Transformative = I Can Haz Edward Elric?

Rules Questions

Unarmed Strikes are considered light weapons.

Clockwork Prosthesis are unarmed strikes.

Clockwork Prosthesis can have weapon enhancements on them.

Transformative is a weapon enhancement.

Does this mean you could have a Clockwork Prosthetic Arm and transform it into a Punching Dagger and/or Short Sword?

Shadow Lodge

1 person marked this as a favorite.

You could but they would fall off because they would stop being a clockwork prosthesis. Which might be kind of funny.

Also does that mean you can turn transformative weapons into clockwork prosthesis?

For the appropriate price, a clockwork arm can be enchanted with any weapon special ability so long as the ability can be applied to unarmed attacks.

Can you add Transformative to your unarmed attacks (such as via an Amulet of Mighty Fists)? I doubt many GMs would allow that.

That said, I could totally see a GM allowing a clockwork arm to be transformed into a light or one handed weapon, since it is pretty cool.

Grand Lodge

You cannot normally apply the Transformative enchantment to unarmed strikes.

This means, you cannot enchant a Clockwork Prosthesis with the Transformative property.

Shadow Lodge

I'd rule that you wouldn't be able to use that hand for any other purpose while using it in such a way, you don't have a hand anymore, you have a dagger.
Not unless you shelled out for a more expensive version, maybe am extra 500 gp or so

That's iffy really. The limitation on it is "This special ability can only be placed on melee weapons." Unarmed strikes IS a melee weapon. It doesn't say a manufactured melee weapon. The only reason you can't normally have this enchant on one is you normally can't enchant one period. (And the necklace doesn't allow for set price enchants)

I'd say it's technically possible but as your DM before trying.

I'm pretty sure it's RAW possible. Now I don't think it should apply to flesh limbs---Though the Amy of mighty fists is a magic item that magically changes your body (you can even have elemental stuff onyou) so you could chock it up to magic. Which.... can lead to some interesting ideas.. A bone dagger or something.

Though I don't see any weirdness or strife with a GM blocking that.

However, the proestetic arm itself is enchanted as per a weapon, and as such it would work along the lines of any other weapon so I don't see a reason why not. I do not think the limb would detach or anything either. Though that would be an interesting way to make Allen Walker.
I utterly have no problem with the idea of a prosthetic arm acting like Edward Elric's arm and growing a blade etc. I even wouldn't have a problem with having your hand still usuable in most cases (can't grab something that your blade's length would block, but you could hold a rope etc)

edit: I'm assuming you meant the clockwork prosthesis from magical marketplace? and not the third party one

Gotta agree with Master of Shadows on this one... and it would be hilarious!

Exorcists are like Oracles/Blackblade Eldritch Scion Magi. I wanna do this now.

I would totally allow one of my players to do this simply because of how awesome it would be.

now i'm imagining someone taking a transformative dagger, turning it into a prosthesis and slapping the crap out of someone with it.

There's a old favorite of mine that I think would be kind of neat with this as well. You see, there's throwing a punch, and there's throwing a punch. Rocket fist! You probably want returning on there as well. There's a bunch of fun ways to flavor it to keep with the clockwork theme.

The Transformative Wizard Hook is the coolest combo I have seen.

Now, the question is, what happens with Transformative Armor Spikes?

The visual notwithstanding, the Boar Style feat would net you slashing damage for your unarmed strike. As a GM, I'd allow my player to flavor that as he so chose.

Hope that helps. :)

Yep, a wizard hook changed into a scorpion whip and used with whip prof equals touch spells at 15' range with a +4 to hit. :)
