Tumor Familiar Scorpion?

Rules Questions

A Bloodrager with Aberant Bloodline can take the Aberrant Tumor feat correct?
And Aberrant Tumor says it acts like a small animal of that type. Does that mean I can choose Scorpion for my Aberrant Tumor and get the +4 to Initiative?

Yes.

Isn't a scorpion a vermin rather than animal though?

scorpion is a viable option for a familiar. It is an exception to vermin generally not being able to be familiars. Also because it gains an int score from being a familiar it looses mindless.

Yes, but...

Assuming Bigguyinblack is correct in his rules reference (I've not looked into this deeply), a tumor cannot emulate a vermin. Whether you can select vermin as a familiar at all is completely unrelated.

Rabbit and Dodo Familiars will grant a +4 bonus on initiative checks, if you feel this going to be too much a hassle.

The Composognathus gets the +4 Initiative as well. I'm getting that as a tumor familiar with my alchemist in a few levels.
