The month Lorrimor was in Barstoi:
Aerin had lived a life of privilege but little power as he grew up in a small castle, befitting a man of his station. Count Neska knew that his campaigns had made him enemies and they would use any signs of disunity in his house to depose him if they saw the opportunity, thus he forced every relation of his to put up a front of strength, unity and happiness to discourage "the wolves circling us" from striking. This meant that despite Aerin's many rides into the wilderness and small adventures to hunt bandits there was no real opportunity for him to experience much other than what he was exposed to as a child.

Lorrimor was Aerin's first glimpse into the world beyond a mile radius around his father's fort and the city of Barstoi. Lorrimor had come for research, and the breadth of his experience fascinated the young man, who had grown frustrated with the cloistered life his uncle had enforced. Aerin spent time in the libraries and archives of the temples, severely limiting the older man's productivity by pestering him about the different places he'd been and what he was studying. Petros evaded questions about his current research, saying he was only "studying what he had to in order to protect the people".

Lorrimor's opinions on what righteousness was differed greatly from the more dogmatic approach of the local Erastilian priests and his draconian uncle. Lorrimor had an approach that simply involved trying to make life as good as possible for as many people as possible, a simple code that Aerin later adapted to his own life. His personal moral code came directly from his conversations with Lorrimor, so news of the professor's death hit Aerin hard.

About Halflings:
You gonna eat that…here, I will..nom nom nom..So, the hafling adoption thing. Well, to be honest, it was more of a long stay, than an adoption. You see, goblins live in tribes, we raise our young in pens, not unlike how you would swine, it is a communal thing. I knew who my parents were supposed to be, but, you never really could be sure. Not very family like that long shanks.

After I was crisped by the mage I stole scrolls from, I escaped on the edge of life. I believe I passed out on a road some distance from them, for I awoke inside of a wagon. Next to me was a Halfling, Mrs Goodtree, I’ll not give you first names, it could make…problems. She had healed me,I was understandable grateful. I traveled with them for several weeks, The Mr, the Mrs, six grown children and four grandchildren. It was loud, crowded and chaotic, just like how I was raised. But, instead of fighting over scraps, living in my own filth, and nearly starving to death, it was like a home. They welcomed me, I don’t know why,.The Mrs. told me she had cast a spell to ask her god what to do and had been answered to spare me. I learned what I never had from my tribe, I learned how to be around people without needing to threaten them with terrible thing, I learned another way to be…

Corny sounding, is it not? It is the truth. I still like fire and destruction, I would much prefer to steal than to buy, but I do not. I will be better than my base nature. Unless, by chance, my more destructive nature is needed or called for. Then, well…I have many pent up issues to vent.

Also, as an experienced gm, I can provide assistance if wanted or needed.

My PbP skill is limited, but I well versed in the rest.

But I try not to step on toes!

Paladin of Pharasma? I did not think it was possible...

The rules don't allow for a Paladin of Pharasma technically. A friend and I have done some looking around and found that especially in the Carrion Crown AP, a lot of DM's allow it especially with the Undead Scourge archtype. Since it doesn't require any new rules that I would be unfamiliar with or lack access to, I'm comfortable with the concept.

4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 3, 6) = 16
4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 3, 4) = 13
4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 3, 1) = 11
4d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 5, 4) = 12
4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 5, 2) = 11
4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 3, 4) = 17
4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 2, 6) = 14

So 11,12,13,14,16,17. Totally doable.

Did I miss something? I thought I had everything sorted but I don't seem to see Sera up there. Anyway, I wasn't quite sure what you meant by narrative examples, so I wrote something up. If its the sort of thing you were after, then I will post Part II, if not, I'll try and write up something else.

Part I:

Sera strode through the town, taking care to stick to the shadows. Night had long since fallen, so this wasn't particularly difficult, yet Sera stuck to practise…it never hurt to be careful. Treading carefully, Sera made her way into the appointed location, and quickly putting down her bow and quiver before moving on a little further. The actual location wasn't much, although nor was the town nearby, just your average collection of people, small enough to not attract much attention, but large enough so that the odd person wouldn’t be missed. Sera had tracked this creature down for days, discovering its hunting ground, knowing what it selected its targets. She didn't know where it spent the rest of the day, so had decided she needed to track the vampire down at night, hopefully when it was selecting a target.

It was cold here, Sera reflected, although the scene was rather pretty. A few trees here, a shrine to Desna there, it was quite picturesque, although the environment did nothing to settle her nerves. As usual however, Sera felt no fear, just a sense of frustration. Lorrimor always told her to be patient, but Sera privately thought it was easier to preach patience from the safety of your own armchair, and another thing entirely walking through the night alone looking for a vampire, while hoping it wasn't going to snap your neck from behind.

Scowling, Sera looked down at herself, deciding that the outfit didn't really help things. She was wearing a dress for god’s sake, with heels, it was just madness. Sera didn’t like dresses, they made her feel vulnerable and it usually attracted unwanted attention. Sometimes Sera wondered if she smeared mud on her face it would stop men looking at her, hell, on her way out of the town in this dress, one boy had the nerve to ask her what her ‘rates’ were. If she didn't have a job to do, she would have giving him a slap to remember, but as it was, getting into a brawl in the dead of night would have hardly helped her out in this. So here she was, all alone and dressed vulnerably, which was sort of the point.

Sera continued pacing, roaming back and forth across the grass, wondering if she had misjudged the time a vampire could go without feeding. Maybe she had missed one unreported death which had upset her count. Sighing to herself, Sera passed by the tree that had her bow next to it, and froze, the bow, or her quiver were no longer there. Slowly she turned her head and saw the vampire just standing still, just watching her.

In that fraction of a second, Sera quite forgot how to breath, as she frantically tried to think of how to rescue the situation. She had misjudged it, she knew that now, relying that it would be so hungry it wouldn't bother doing a pass but it had done so, found the bow and now she was defenceless.

Sera gazed at the vampire with hooded eyes, reflecting that if there was a silver lining, it wasn’t quite close enough for her to crush her will, she really would have loathed being that vampires plaything until it got around to finally finishing her off. The vampire wasn't moving though, it was just standing there, watching her, very likely savouring the moment, or perhaps just wanting to make her sweat. Thinking quickly, Sera ran through her personal rules, which were utterly absolute. Firstly, always fight on your own terms, and secondly, if things go wrong, then run like hell. Sera had developed these rules before she started on her quest, and they were burned into her memory. There were others of course, but those were the two rules that always took precedence. Still watching the vampire, Sera drew a shaky breath, breathing in that night air, letting it fill her up, pushing down her anxiety. She took a small step back, and smiled at the vampire. The vampire took a sneaky step forward, and smiled back. The two of them looked at each other, just smiling, before Sera turned and bolted, making for the town. Snarling, the vampire charged after her.

Undead Scourge was actually in my plans, and it makes sense that they'd serve the goddess most focused on the sacred nature of death and the profanity of being risen from the grave.

** spoiler omitted **...

No, I'm sorry I just missed you in the lineup. It's a bit hard to keep track after everyone has posted several times. I can't just scroll through a list that way, lol. I can't augment that list above but it is duly noted that Sera Vasara - Human Inquisitor is on the list!

A reminder that today is the last day I'll take submissions. I'll be closing the thread this evening, making my selections, and starting the game tonight!

Part II:

In a race for your life- Sera reflected as she ran- heels were a right pain in the ass, as she quickly kicked them off and continued running in her bare feet. She could hear the vampire following, so she piled on the speed, desperately trying to reach the town. Lorrimor had reminded her that vampires needed permission to enter a private residence, so all she needed to do was enter a home, and she would be safe. The sounds of pursuit were fading behind her somewhat, and Sera wondered if it had given up the chase, as she hurtled past a tree, seeing the town come into view, a distance of only a few hundred meters. Hope flared for a second, before the vampire hurtled onto the path in front of her, blocking her off from the town. Cursing furiously, Sera dove left, away from the town, heading towards a shack on the outskirts of town. Little more than a rundown hovel, the house was uninhabited, and thus would serve as no protection against the vampire following her in, but Sera was determined to limit the space the vampire had to move…and the house would achieve that goal.

Lungs burning, Sera hit the door at a run, crashing through it, her momentum carrying her halfway up the stairs, with the vampire close behind. She felt the air shift slightly, and she ducked, the swipe flashing over her head. Thinking quickly, Sera pulled a flask from within her dress, and smashed it on the stairs, the vampire screeching, the holy water burning its skin. A mild irritant, the holy water nevertheless gave Sera the breathing space she needed to make it to the top of the stairs safely, and into the room they led to.

Growling, but slightly wary, the vampire stalked into the room, more of an attic really, keen to finish off his prey. There, standing at the far end of the room, stood Sera, a bow already drawn, with an arrow waiting at the ready. The vampire frowned, given pause not by the sight of the arrow, but by the sudden look of confidence on the humans face. He was used to seeing fear, blind panic, but this human appeared entirely relaxed, unruffled even, and there was, the vampire thought, that minor issue as to how she had plucked a weapon out of nowhere…

Across the other side of the room, Sera took a slow steadying breath. Fight on your terms, never theirs, she remembered, before letting the arrow fly…

..and the vampire was already moving, dodging to one side but he was away that the shot had been aimed somewhere else, somewhere higher as it whirled around, seeing the arrow lodging itself near the top of the old window frame. The window had long since been broken but there had been an old strip of cloth acting as a curtain and now the vampire saw the arrow, having pierced the railing, the curtain falling to the ground and then…

…utter agony as the first rays of dawn ripped open the night sky. Howling in pain the vampire stepped forward, determined to end this worthless human’s existence just as she smoothly stepped to the right, revealing the full length mirror she had been standing in front of, and suddenly the burning intensified and then…

…Sera observed the remains of the vampire, and allowed herself a small smile before walking away.
***

The women in the veil sat quietly in the tavern, muttering quietly, her visitor was late. At that moment, the tavern door opened, and a women with a hood, a bow strapped to her back walked in, and carefully sat at the table. For a women, both women didn't say anything, before Sera relented, “Its done, everything went as planned, the bait, the chase, the trap…all of it”
The veiled women nodded her head, but otherwise made no further common. “Give Lorrimor my regards will you?”, Sera continues, “calculating the arrival of dawn, the pattern of attacks...that was very useful”.
Her acquaintance smiled, “I’ll pass it on”. The silence builds slightly before Sera shifts slightly in her seat, “I must be going shortly you know”. Behind the veil, an eyebrow raises slightly, as the unseen mouth forms a question “What, you’re not staying?”.
Sera stands, dropping her hood slightly, casually brushing the hair out of her eyes. “Of course not”, she says smiling “I have a Mass to prepare”.

Just got word my RL Group is planning this AP in the near future, so I'm out. Can I donate my rolls to The Madwand provided he gets a profile done in time? We're conjoined twins after all.

Best of luck to all!

She'll need some numbers tweaked since she was built for a different campaign.

I know that feeling! But if you feel like you always need to do that, see your physician.

Just let us know when you decide please. I think I will change Lauran to Aasimar, seems like she really is the chosen one after all...

Ok guys, yeah the recruitment is officially closed. I had meant to do this hours ago but instead ended up in the ER with my kid for what felt like a million years. I will try to get my selections posted tonight, and the game thread active. I'm physically and mentally exhausted, it's been a long, long day. (My kid is fine, btw). If I don't get it up tonight, it will definitely be up tomorrow. I'm going to try to get some dinner (finally now that it's after 9 pm) and see how I feel then. Thank you for your patience.

Glad to hear your kid is fine. Now we wait...

Wow. Glad they're ok. If you need some more time I think everyone would understand.

Take your time DM. Our wait is nothing compared to waiting to see the results from ER.

No problems. Take however much time you need, it's your show.

I have no issues with your priorities, family and children first! Keep rested and everyone stay well.

Thanks for your understanding everyone. I tried really, really hard to get this up last night but Paizo was undergoing maintenance and so it was on and offline. I did get the game thread started, but then couldn't get back to the recruitment to announce the winners.

First, let me say that you guys made it very, very hard for me to narrow down the choices. I'd gladly take you all if that were feasible. I'll definitely come back to this thread for any future recruitment for this game in the event we lose someone. That being said, I did manage to narrow it down, but alas my choice of 6 turned into a choice of 7!

Without further ado:

Ravel Sigrun
Terrance Foehammer
Ioann Vilescu
Gellius Dandrae
Ingrid Van der Geist
Ake of the Stolen Soul
Orin Gabor

The game thread is live, I am about to start the discussion. Please be certain that your character sheet is complete, and completely transferred to paizo as soon as possible.
