I am liking this system. It is amazing to me how much a difference like the dice mechanic can encapsulate the feel of something. I am trying to hold off on 3POisms though. "We're Doomed!"


Doesn't it though? The amazin thing to me is the collaboration it allows in building the story between GM and PCs.

I also need each of you to roll a d12 as a Force Die. The results of which are in the same section as the other die roll results. From this we will build the Destiny Pool. I'd encourage you read up on that, its another great mechanic in this system. They are explained on p. 27 in the rulebook.

How are we treating abilities that function "Once per session"?

Either way, I'll likely spend a talent on Redundant Systems: "Once per session, may take a Redundant Systems action: Make an Easy Mechanics check to harvest components from a functioning device to repair a broken one without breaking the first device."

I also really need to remember that I have a rank of Gearhead, which allows me to remove a Setback die from all Mechanical checks.


I haven't quite figured out the "Once per Session" thing, although I think the best way would be in a spot that makes sense. Realistically, once per session could be anything depending on how things go on the tabletop, so I don't think I will be too strict on this. As always, we can work together on it, so no one should shy away from these Talents.

I'll bank mine for now if that's all right.

I'm considering a slight shift away from the entire force-sensitive angle, as I'm beginning to think it would add needless complexity to the character as she's already taken off in a different direction to what I had originally envisaged.

I'm not so sure she needs the crutch of the 'dark side/light side' aspect in order to explore what happens to her morality, that has already been amply and richly provided by her companions ;)

Guys, are we having difficulty with a 1/day posting? I usually count the weekend as one day - I like my breaks too - so during the week is what I'm thinking.

This has been very entertaining for me. I think everyone has the 'gist' of the dice mechanic. I find myself checking this game more than any other, but its moving really slooooowwwww.

Work has been very lousy for me - I haven't had any weekends off in over a month and am in continuous overtime / crunch mode. This week should be the end of that for me, at least.

I'm good ...my weekend was nuts. I just don't want to be posting and filling up the thread when others want to say or do something.


Ok, no problems. It helps to know when people are working a lot, and when they are just waiting because they don't have anything to add. I try to strike a balance between moving things along and letting everyone get something in on a daily basis.

That said, what I'll do is move things forward (when appropriate) and you can retcon any comments if you feel the need.

Hopefully everyone is enjoying this as much as I am!

I had ton of connectivity troubles and this was first weekend flying solo with my son (4) so it was a bit chaotic. But mostly, the internet, which seems to be better. Oh so rage inducing. I am indeed enjoying the game, sorry for the spottiness.

Should the P go to R or should Black get added? I ask because I have things that reduce black but don't downgrade dice and I am just trying to understand what the difference is, so I'm not being confrontational but truly looking for clarity. Like why things would add or subtract versus upgrade or degrade, maybe there is somewhere in the book that goes into it?

As for the language thing, not that it matters now per se but I would like to look at that further in so much that I see where it is mentioned by race but not anywhere else in Core and my investigations online lead me to forums in various places that seem equally confused that there doesn't seem to be a mechanism to learn languages. Some call it out as overly tedious and that in the movies everyone manages to mostly understand everyone else (Han and Chewie, Lando and his copilot, R2 and Anakin, 3P0, etc.) So I just want to find out what I might do along the way, I am fine for now these are just things that are occuring to me now.


The added R is specific to the distractions in this case. The smell and the squealing noise. I forgot the smell doesn't affect 5 so he would just ad 1Bk for his checks, which could then be removed, based on your Talents.

Normally I agree with you on the language issue, because it is tedious. However, that's exactly why computers will translate for you (with a simple check). Trex obviously had everything show in Transdoshan, but its an Easy check to reset to Basic.

Going forward, the only time language will be an issue is if its a plot thing. Then your decisions can be affected by it, or not. Especially as a droid it would be easy (but not cheap) to find software to translate everything to Basic.

Sorry about my absence. I was sick as a dog yesterday. On the mend now. So are P and R referring to die color? Maybe the meds haven't left my system but I'm not sure what I'm supposed to roll. I think I figured it out, but let me know if I screwed up.


You did it correctly. The R is coming from the smell and the squealing. Get rid of one those and you go just adding 1Bk. Get rid of both, and you are back to basics.
