Future "Mythic Adventures" materials in PFS???

Pathfinder Society

Scarab Sages

Earlier this year I played the "Destiny of the Sands" Trilogy and really enjoyed how they incorporated materials from "Mythic Adventures" in with the series.

The questions I would like to pose to the boards are:

1. Did you enjoy the inclusion of materials from "Mythic Adventures" for these scenarios?

2. Is anyone aware of any plans for future scenarios that include materials from "Mythic Adventures" at this time?

I doubt there will be any further uses of Mythic in Society (or general content for that matter).

The reception was lukewarm at best, and it requires a whole lot of extra work on the part of the GM and the writer.

Probably not worth the time and effort.

However, Beacon Below does revisit the sanctum, so I could be completely wrong.

Scarab Sages

Mythic is incorporated into a few of the the APs, and there is a rechargable "Mythic" boon that keeps GMs on their toes about the mythic stuff.

For what it's worth, every person I have spoken to personally who played Destiny 3 *loved* the way Mythic worked.

But I agree that the online reaction has been extremely mixed.

I'd bet that we've seen the last of any Mythic material imported into PFS for the rest of this decade, if ever again. The "grant you mythic powers and take them away again at the end of the session" bit gets old very quickly, and mythic does not balance well for a network campaign.

I doubt that we'll see players benefiting from Mythic abilities, but I've seen a few mythic templates and items pop up.

Scenario with Mythic In It:
The new 7-11 that just came out (The Beacon Below, which explores the vaults under the Sanctum of the Sages) has several such incidences. Big Kudos to John Compton, by the way, on the chronicle sheet and scenario in general.

I wouldn't go so far as to say the rest of the decade, but I think it's fair to say that mythic scenarios take a lot of work and can be very tricky to implement in a non-mythic organized play campaign. I don't have any plans to incorporate Mythic Adventures into the campaign on the same scale as occurred in Destiny of the Sands during this season, but I might use a scenario or two to lay the groundwork for some mythic content in the future.

You're absolutely spot-on that granting mythic power and then taking it away is a trick that's difficult to repeat without it getting old. Nonetheless, that "you're mythic for a scenario or two and then normal again" model is a very strong one for being able to reintegrate characters back into the campaign without spoiling the rest of the campaign. I'd probably have to use some variation on that model in the future, but I'd have to spin it much differently to ensure it feels novel.

This is really the most reliable way for us to use Mythic Adventures in the campaign. Dropping the occasional mythic monster or item in better matches the limited proliferation of mythic power throughout the setting, and it allows us to make a few mythic and near-mythic destinations feel even more special by incorporating some of those elements.

I would love to see this Model used or a variation of it on Pathfinder Adventure Path Wrath of the Righteous so we can get that legal for PFS play.
