Making use of See In Darkness

Advice

Hi all,

I have a tiefling oracle of metal made before the races changed, mostly because I've always wanted to take advantage of their Fiend Sight feat. Oracle seemed like a good choice, given access to Deeper Darkness.

What I'm interested in is making the best use I can of supernatural darkness, and my ability to see through it. Preferably while not driving everyone else in my party insane (this is for PFS).

So far, I've come up with a few ideas. The first was to save up while leveling for a lesser Quicken rod ASAP so I can cast it on an arrow and shoot it the same round or something. I could also go with the two metamagic-reducing traits to make Quickened DD a 5th level spell, but I thought using those to quicken some Level 1 buffs would be more useful.

More immediately, I thought of using a hooded lantern, casting the spell on the wick inside and making myself a cone of supernatural darkness. I think with Prehensile Tail I could point it while fighting, and possibly get myself (at least partially) in darkness as well, which would be a nice defensive boost.

I suppose it could also be used similar to a fog cloud, or to cover a retreat/set up a trap.

Any other ideas on how to take advantage of Fiend Sight?

Some way of making the party more capable in supernatural darkness as well would be useful as well. Some kind of mass oracle's gift effect, with the right curse.

Jiggy did a very nice rundown of the light and darkness rules over here.

Thanks for the link, but that's not really what I asked about. I understand how light/darkness works, I'm asking for tactical uses of Deeper Darkness combined with the See In Darkness special ability.

Check the examples I gave in the first post.

Even in normal darkness, see in darkness lets you engage targets further away than darkvision range. You've basically got greater invisibility so long as you keep at a distance.

What is your Mystery?

What is you build?

Chuck the Deaf Metal Oracle
Demon-Spawn Tiefling

Str 17
Dex 13
Con 14
Int 8
Wis 10
Cha 16

Feats:
1 Fiend Sight
3 Power Attack
5 Fiend Sight (See in Darkness)
7 Vital Strike
9 Quicken Spell (or Furious Focus?)
11 Divine Interference?

Revelations:
Dance of Blades
Iron Weapon
Steel Scarf?
Iron Skin

Traits: Wayang Spellhunter and Magical Lineage (the two metamagic reducers; on Shield of Faith and Lead Blades)

I went with vital strike to take advantage of the move-action shield from Dance of Blades. Quicken spell to throw on quick buffs, and probably Silence and Deeper Darkness with a metamagic rod (saving up for that).

Are looking to do more with Stealth?

Skill Focus(Stealth), will allow for Eldritch Heritage, and Improved Eldritch Heritage, with the Shadow Bloodline, and give you access to the Shadow Well ability, which is pretty sweet.

Add the Dampen Presence feat, along with Boots of the Soft Step, and you can hide from anything, anywhere, with at most, a 5ft Step.

I'd like to make a character like that one day, but not this one. As an Oracle I wouldn't gain much from stealth (in combat, at least). I also planned to get him Jaunt Boots at some point so he could "5-foot step" and get the Dance of Blades bonus a few times per day.

I'm more interested in ideas on how to use Deeper Darkness tactically, without compromising my allies too much. Kind of like the hooded lantern, above.

I'm saving up for a quicken rod as I figure if I can cast DD quickened, then I could move it in the same round (via crossbow or something) to use it on our opponents or block vision like fog cloud.
