Hmm |
I ask this because I am playing a Kitsune Maestro sorcererer in a home game. I have Bardic Performance: Fascinate as a bloodline ability, but I would love to get Inspire Courage somehow as well. I know that there are feats that offer benefits of a number of class specials. You can get Lay on Hands as a non-Paladin, or even the special Paladin Saving throws. Is there a way to get Inspire Courage without having to multiclass as a bard?

The Flagbearer feat (pg. 286, Inner Sea World Guide), is for all intents and purposes Inspire Courage. It has the advantage that it lasts as long as you have the flag held aloft & doesn't use rounds of Bardic Performance.
On the down side, it immediately reverses if the flag is captured or downed by the enemy & never gives a bonus greater than +1.

Flagbearer may be what I need -- it provides all I want from Inspire Courage in a single feat and is available to Sorcerers. We even have the book... I'd want to homebrew it so that I could do it while singing / dancing instead of just holding a flag, but it would justify the ability to the GM.
Maybe it could work like bellydance with a scarf?
I'm playing a Maestro Sorcerer who is very bard-like. This would help with my character concept.

Some Other Guy |
Couple other methods:
Summoner Monster 6 has lillend azata, which is a level 7 bard with inspire courage.
The shaman's battle spirit has a group wide buff that gives bonuses to hit and damage (albeit they are morale, not competence).
Sensei Monk has an inspire courage ability.

Flagbearer provides a morale bonus to attack/damage rolls. Inspire Courage is competence, and while the two would be functionally similar, competence bonuses are harder to come by other means.
If you are looking for a feat similar to Flagbearer then look at Battle Cry from the ACG: +1 morale attack bonus, plus save rerolls which I would consider way better then +1 to damage.
Also realize that the Flagbearer feat is supposed to occupy a hand and is supposed to be a bit of a pain to use. Changing it to be a scarf that you wear is changing the feat more then fluff would allow in my opinion.

All good points. If I have to do it while playing my instrument or singing, then I have to do it that way. Maestro Sorcerers have a bit of bard in them... I'd like to get more, because currently we have no group buffs. No bless, no bardic performance, nada.
The battle cry one also looked very interesting and could definitely be reflavored to song.
