Can a druid with the Bat-Shaman archetype take the trickery domain, or can he only take the Deception subdomain?

It would appear to be only the deception sub domain. Subdomains are usually available any time someone has the domain, so there's no reason to call it out unless its a restriction, not a permission.

Not always. For Example, Zyphus grants the plant domain and the decay subdomain, but not the growth subdomain.

Since the Bat Shaman lists Trickery and the Deception Subdomain, I would read that as allowing either to be selected.

That would be the definition of "usually"

This makes sense, but where are you seeing that? I'd like to see how its noted.

Why would it need to list the deception subdomain seperately in order to indicate that?

Zyphus's subdomains are listed in the blog.

Liberty's Edge

If it lists a domain and a subdomain that means the domain and that subdomain are legal, but all the other subdomains are off limits.
