Magical Arrows

Rules Questions

I'm trying to figure out how to properly price arrows (something I haven't done before). I know that they're supposed to come in sets of 50. I'm wondering if the pricing for each bonus listed (table 15-8) is for a set of 50 or is it figuring for something else. Any help is appreciated.

Yep, the prices are for a set of 50.

Another question. A quiver of 20 arrows costs 1 gp.

If I'm doing my math right, that would mean 1 arrow would cost 5 cp or 1 sp for 2 arrows.

The masterwork quality is 6 sp per arrow.

Looks like a single +1 seeking arrow would be 40 gp, 6 sp, 5cp.

Or am I missing something?

Arrow: 5cp
Masterwork Ammunition: 6gp

You can't add the masterwork quality to a weapon after it is created; it must be crafted as a masterwork weapon (see the Craft skill). The masterwork quality adds 300 gp to the cost of a normal weapon (or 6 gp to the cost of a single unit of ammunition). Adding the masterwork quality to a double weapon costs twice the normal increase (+600 gp).

+2 Weapon (the eqivalent of +1 Seeking): 8,000 gp per 50 arrows -> 160gp per arrow

total: 166.05 gp or 166 gp and 5 cp

Correct.

Masterwork arrows cost 6 gold pieces each, not 6 silver. (300 gp for masterwork, divided by 50 pieces of ammunition = 6 gp each).

Ammunition is always enchanted in batches of 50. 50 +1 seeking arrows cost 8,301 gp. (Call it 8,300gp for ease). That makes a single +1 seeking arrow cost 166 gold pieces. Crafting them yourself costs 83 gold pieces each.

Magic arrows are for groups of 50 arrows.
Masterwork arrows are for groups of 20 arrows.

151 gp for 20 MW arrows, or 7.55gp each, or 377.5gp for 50.

8377.5/50=167.55gp

So a +1 seeking arrow would be 167.55gp
Make sure you make it a durable arrow for +1gp/arrow and now if you miss the arrow doesn't break.

+1 seeking durable arrow = 168.55gp each to buy.

Technically 8,302 gold and 5 silver.

I know you were ballparking it, but some people may not have known.

The rules very specifically say masterwork ammunition costs 6 gp each. 20 masterwork arrows is 120gp. 50 masterwork arrows is 300gp.

Both masterwork and magical ammunition are priced in groups of 50.

Remember, though, that "A magical durable arrow with an enhancement bonus or magic weapon special ability applies these magical effects only the first time it is used—afterward, the durable arrow becomes nonmagical, and it can be reused or imbued with magic again."

That was a mistype.
