  • Evocation: c'mon, you know you want to play a Real Blaster. Not the current paradigm, where you're either a tragic failure or a Dazing munchkin. You want a blaster that wins by actually blasting, not debuffing concealed as blasting. Get rid of wizard's versatility and make a blaster that gives the barbarian's DPR a run for its money.
  • Yes. Someone needs to make a blaster class for real. I have been screwing around with an arcanist Black Mage archetype with fewer readied spells and spells per day for an alternate and better blasting exploit system but I don't even like that idea so much anymore.

There has got to be a way to do that idea well. I feel like everyone and their mom takes a shot at adjusting the warlock (and some people on this board have done a pretty good job of it) but someone needs a fresh new shot at it.

Something else I've been really missing is a non-magical socialite character, maybe with a little duelist mixed in. I'm not talking about a swashbuckler that has a few charisma class skills, either. For anyone familiar with Star Wars RPGs, the closest thing I can think of is the noble class.

In combat, they focus on team rallying powers, intimidation, and other types of psychological warfare. Out of combat, however, is really where they shine, with cool powers that let them call on contacts for resources, information, and assistance. Sure, a bard is great for gathering information and spreading rumors, but a true socialite class is your go-to face man, the guy who easily gets you into the king's audience chamber, strikes a fantastic bargain down at the store, and hires a team of mercenaries for a fraction of the usual cost.

I toyed with that idea a couple years back when I was working on the Noble base class, but I would love to see other takes on it. I think I ended up making it a rogue archetype at some point, as well.

Edit: I havent looked at that link in two years. After reading it again, I really need to clean it up a bit in terms of consistent language and typos.

A podiatrist? Feet are important for adventurers.

I tried screwing with that and I let it get out of hand. I think it is a real niche, though. I like the Spellbound Kingdoms and Star Wars Saga nobles a whole bunch.

It is important to note that both of these classes had interesting combat options. The Saga noble could give guys action like a 4e Warlord and the Spellbound Kingdoms noble had access to a special fighting style that could weaponize having a fearsome reputation.

I really like your class, Ex, and can see it having a lot of use as a GM. It would make an excellent compliment to a GM antagonist.

Hey man. Thanks. I really need to change some of the base mechanics, I think. As it stands, I think the spirits are unwieldy and I need to get around to typing up something a little easier to use. I guess I am going to make them a little "game-ier" which kind of works since I sort of like the idea of the Prince as a charismatic chessmaster.

How about a class like the Dragoon/Lancer from the Final Fantasy games.

A dedicated shapeshifter, more non-magic-based classes, and a dedicated healer that isn't a cleric.
