Does Greater weapon of the chosen make vital strike a more viable option?

Greater weapon of the chosen should give you two rolls on every vital strike. I was think combining it with warpriest and a katana to make a more mystical sort of one shot one kill iaijutsu style samurai, using the warpriest's bonus feats to get access to the vital strike feats before they'd normally be able to.

There were also some vital strike feats for druidic casters in the ACG which look interesting but don't quite fit the theme. Anything else that might fit well with a one strike style samurai that I may have missed?

Greater Weapon of the chosen does work well with vital strike. It can really increase your critical hit chances, and makes it extremely unlikely you'll miss. It's still not as good as a standard full attack for a full BAB class, but it's excellent for Warpriests.

This is my planned progression for a 'one hit' Fighter -

Power Attack, Combat Expertise, Improved Feint
Furious Focus
Weapon Focus
Combat Reflexes
Improved Trip
Felling Smash
Greater Trip
Greater Feint
(Monk MOMS) Viscous Stomp, Dragon Style
(Monk MOMS) Monkey Style or Dragon Ferocity

Why Improved Feint? Just because you're not doing anything else with your move action? What weapon enchants would you suggest?

Impact is an obvious one for the vital strike build. Plus it should interact well with the growing damage dice from the warpriest. Does anyone know offhand how impact interacts with lead blades or enlarge person? And maybe a good way to get those on the warpriest's spell list?

@Hawktitan
Your build is still going for multiple hits, though power attack and furious focus would definitely be high priority for any single hit build.

I've always thought that a Vital Strike build for a quick-channeling paladin or cleric, so that you could both heal and do significant damage in the same round. Greater Weapon of the chosen and vital strike would be EXTREMELY feat intensive, though - not sure how you could pull that off. especially if you need some channeling feats to complement the build.

With a Warpriest? that might work well for the Vital Strike line

Essentially yes. Might as well do something with your move action and make your opponent easier to hit (and easier to trip once you have greater feint).

Also it's sort of a fun progression.

In a single standard action: Attack - Trip - Attack - Attack

And yes it's not exactly a one hit build which is why I originally put it in quotes, it's more of a standard action build.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

More viable!? I dislike what you're implying with that title, sir.

Don't make me use the old crane wing style on you sir!
