Any Recent Info About A New Retirement Arc?

Has there been any updates about the retirement arc to replace the aging EoTT?

why? It is hard to keep enough people interested in characters to 12 level to run through eyes of the ten as is.

I think what Finlanderboy means is "No, there hasn't been, but I understand and respect that some people are interested in it."

I totally disagree as we have 4 tables of retired PC's looking to play anything they don't have to repeat with GM points. There is a mass interest in my region for high level play as that gives the opportunity to use those CR 12+ creatures that we can only look at in the Bestiary. I hope that future scenarios use the more uncommon or rare creatures because it becomes boring fighting the same creatures year after year; isn't that the reason for multiple bestiary's

I believe a new retirement arc was announced a while ago.

Then we got a bunch of threads requesting more 1-5 scenarios and John Compton said he'd be investing more of his resources in making those. Some of us argued that we enjoy higher level play more than play at this level, but overall there was a very vocal demand for a new 1-5 at least every month. Assuming no increase in the current number of scenarios, and that this demand can be met, that means 14 scenarios for the rest of the tiers, meaning that assuming a weighted distribution toward lower level play, we'll get 4 (7-11s), 4 (5-9s), and 6(3-7s).

They also pulled the plug on high level seeker tables in specials since development of those takes almost as long as the rest of the special put together.

@Finlanderboy, I'm sorry for the lack of players in your area. I posted an inquiry for my FLGS this past week to gauge interest in post L12+ play. Between that post's response and folks I know, we have 20ish folks with 30ish characters about to hit 12 or are 12+.

@David_Bross, yeah, I was hoping for newer info than that older posting.

While EoTT is a great series, it's growing less relevant as more and more seasons pass (especially for players who may not have played early season scenarios).

And unless you have four GM stars to burn, you've only got one run-through. Two if you GM, but there are currently at least three people in our area fighting over that, and you need to have players to be able to run it.

Here's a thought: what if the retirement arc were allowed to be played multiple times in the same way a Tier 1 module is?

Also, there are many discussions EOTT gets less play then a normal lvl 12 scenario due to the difficults of having to play all 4 in order and schduled 20 hours of game play with the same group. If there was just one lvl 12 scneaio or a series that could be played in any order they would get much more play.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I heard John Compton is still working on Wardens of the Reborn Forge sanctioning :)

roysier, I think the bigger problem is that you end up at level 13.2, which annoys some people (because there are exactly two possible scenarios you could run to get back to an even level).

However, with Mike Brock stating that there have only ever been about 100 reported runs of the full series (granted, that was a few months ago), high level play is not going be a primary focus of PFS's.

This, even though I know that, locally, one table finished in July (the one I played in), and I know of 2 table currently running in the Twin Cities (I am GMing one), one is scheduled to start around Thanksgiving, and their is at least one more waiting in the wings (but needs someone to step up and actually organize it).

That being said, I'd certainly welcome a new retirement arc!

I think Silbeg hit the nail on the head. from what I understand there isn't much Eyes of the 10 tables that have been reported.

I used my stars to replay through Eyes of the ten last spring...and that hans't been entirely reported.

So without much reporting, they can't justify allocating more resources. I believe however there are high level Adventure Path issues with sections sanctioned for play, and there are some modules as well.

From what I understand there is a fair amount of high level PFS here in the Raleigh Durham Area.

I know the low levels of interest (with obvious regional variation) makes it unlikely, but I'd interpreted p. 26 of the new GTOP as hinting towards a potential new arc:

Quote:
Seekers (previously known as retired characters) are offered the opportunity to accomplish one last major mission for the Pathfinder Society: participating in a Seeker story arc (previously known as a retirement arc).

It goes on to later describe the "Eyes of the Ten Seeker story arc." The way they worded it seemed to at least allude to the possibility of an alternative arc.

For the record, our lodge is about to start its fourth (I believe) Eyes table of 2014, once myself and a couple others snag our last bits of XP in the next few weeks.
