Some skald questions

Rules Questions

1)extra rage power feat:
is it considered to be "from another source" or are you free to pick up rage powers with this feat to add to your raging song

2)lesser celestial totem + path of glory:
would that effectivly heal the whole party for something like 1+skald level /round for something obscene like 10hp/round, for the whole party for 9 rounds with just the cost of a 2nd lvl spell?

3)clear mind+eater of magic + saving finale :
basically means that you can potentially give someone up to 3 rerolls?

4)raging flier:
...what? for starters what kind of maneuverability. secondly what happens afterwards? fall gently? fall abruptly like coyote chasing RR? can you use it while falling to have the whole party "fly" down the last 30 or so feet of a 50000ft drop?

5)dragon totem resilience:
would this effectivly give all of your allies DR5/- at lvl9 ?

6)flexible fury+totem powers:
from the moment you pick up a totem power you cannot pick up another correct? but if you only have the lesser version of a totem power, can you effectivly "swap" it with another totem power (since it replaces the old one you now have 0 totem powers so it is eligble to be picked)? p.e. using lesser spirit totem for general purposes damaging effect, and swapping to lesser celestial for a quick burst of heal if something goes wrong.

6b)flexible fury+ active rage power:
so you are inspiring rage, and you have your allotment of rage powers A+B+C running on your allies. you cast this spell "losing" power A and gaining power D. What happens?
-option a)everyone loses power A and gains power D
-option b)you lose A and gain D, everyone else is keeping A since when you started singing it was what you had
-option c)everyone loses A, only you gain D since you need to choose which powers are activated during the initiation of incite rage song
-option d)you implode

7)superstition and "allies"
in pf in some cases "allies" is including you. in others (like p.e. teamwork feat) it isn't. So ultimately, are you your own ally for superstition? can you cast spells on yourself without saving throw or do you have to roll for it (precedence with SR here is yes you autofail your saving throws if you want, flavor wise too unless you fear your self too much. RAW wise is a no though i think)?

8)spell warrior and rage powers:
so cool, you get 1 rage power/3lvls but no way to use them. is it intended? are you allowed to use rage powers alongside enhance weapons (would be OP imo)? or did they simply forgot to replace those powers with something else?

ty for your help

(i'm equally intersted in RAI and RAW since this isn't for PFS or anything (so RAI wins) but i'm also usually the DM so i need a RAW backup too to not be too selfish)

bump.

also seemed to figured out 5 by myself (all affected have the 2 dragon powers so all of them get +4DR bumping their DR to 5/-, so the answer is yes)

3 seems to allow at least 2 rerolls if you first use eater of magic and THEN clear mind. Not sure if the wording of clear mind (that you HAVE to take the second roll) superseads saving finale, but i guess i would rule it as a yes given the investment and the fact that if the skald uses saving that means that until he can act again no one else is getting their rerolls due to incite rage being gone.

2 seems to also work but i don't know if i should allow it since it seems quite strong from early on (as a way to sustain inside a battle) and at later levels being a super cheap way to refill everyones HP after a battle as well as mitigrating quite a bit of damage in an actual combat. The fact that the skald needs to be be spending quite a few rounds in later levels seems to somehow balance that but not sure, i will need to see in actual play to get a feel on.

still pretty confused about the rest of my points though

1) Pretty sure you would add these to your Inspired Rage.

2) Yes, assuming you are caster level 9.

3) Yes, but the Skald himself cannot get 3 rerolls that way because he only has 1 immediate action.

4) Does not say, FAQ worthy.

5) No. It would effectively give all your allies energy resist 6 at level 9. If you want to give DR, you can get the Damage Reduction rage power. At level 9 you could give the party DR 3/- by spending a feat on Extra Rage Power.

6) "When starting an inspired rage, the skald chooses which rage powers (if any) to add to the song, and all affected allies gain the benefit of these rage powers, using the skald’s level as their effective barbarian level." E) Everyone keeps A and doesn't use D because that's the rage power that Inspired Rage gives everyone (yourself included). When you start your next Inspired Rage, you can give D instead. If you activate a separate rage (such as by self-casting the Rage spell), it would be possible to stack your normal rage on top of raging song to obtain D through normal rage while also getting A from Inspired Rage.

7) You are always considered your own ally. This is even true for Teamwork feats, but they typically require an ally *in addition to* yourself. Arguably, you could even use teamwork feats like Outflank and Precise Strike with Dimensional Savant for one-man flanking.

8) Yeesh, that's bad. Seems like they didn't even playtest this archetype. You can still obtain the rage powers by self-casting the Rage spell (with the caveat that you can no longer cast spells while Rage is active), however. Alternatively, you could dip a level of Barbarian, take the Raging Blood feat, or even activate a Sympathetic Rage feat as an Orc. I might rather play an Arcane Duelist Bard myself.

why?

dragon resilience reads:

While raging, the barbarian gains resistance to the energy type that is associated with her dragon totem—acid (black, copper, green), cold (silver, white), electricity (blue, bronze), or fire (brass, gold, red). This resistance equals double her current DR/— from her barbarian damage reduction class feature; this DR increases by 2 for each dragon totem rage power she possesses, including this one.

so:
everyone has DR 1 from your DR
everyone has 2 Dragon feats (including dragon resilience)

So everyone should have DR 5 and energy resistance 10

the way you describe it it should read " this RESISTANCE increases by 2 for each dragon totem rage power she possesses, including this one. "

but it clearly states that it is the DR that is increased by 2 for each rage power and that the resistance is double the amount of the DR.

Hm, I might be misreading it. There is another thread here about that. Might as well hit FAQ on that too.

The possible readings are

1) When they said "DR" they were getting mixed up and meant energy resistance.
2) When they said "this DR increases", they meant it increases only the DR calculated for the purposes of the obtained energy resistance.
3) It actually increases your DR.

It's not exactly clear. Under your interpretation, yes, you could give the party DR 5/- easy at level 9.

bump because i need a bit more input about (1), (3), and (6a/b)

I think in hindsight the Dragon Resilience would increase your regular DR because the text simply says "This DR increases" so the DR should just be increased regardless of the confusing context. It also makes the Dragon Totem line an actually viable option.

6a) I see no reason why you wouldn't be able to swap one totem power into another. As long as you only have 1 totem at a time, that should work fine.

8) I'd like to amend this by noting that you can use a Poet's Cloak to obtain Inspired Rage as a Skald. "For wearers with the bardic
performance class feature, it grants the use of raging song as
a 4th-level skald by spending rounds of bardic performance." You do not need to UMD the cloak because according to Raging Song "A raging song counts as the bard’s bardic performance special ability for any effect that affects bardic performances." Before you ask, your rage powers aren't capped at 4th level powers because the Skald's Rage Power class feature is separate from the Inspired Rage class feature. Incidentally, Poet's Cloak gives an extra rage power. The problem with this item, however, is that it trades against a cloak of resistance so your options are mainly limited to Flawed Amber Spindle Ioun Stones (6k each, stacks up to +3; or regular Amber Spindle for 10k each, stacks up to +5) for resistance bonuses. There is also the Star Medallion (3.5k gp, neck slot, +1 resistance all saves, false life 1/day, and runelords can scry through your senses and speak through your voice if they know you are wearing one).

1) It's another source. It's a feat, not the class ability. I don't see how you'd think a feat and a class ability would be the same source.

4) use the maneuverability for their size. and they'd fall if they hadn't landed.

5) talk with GM about this and if PFS expect variety. Also it could do nothing since they don't have the Barbarian DR class feature.

6a) I think yes you could, but you couldn't give that one out to people, as the spell is giving you the new power and not your class ability.

7) it's all spells, any spell, and every spell. so your own included.

8) multi-class to use them or wait for an Errata or something to change it.
