Turning into a Undead Creature Rules

Rules Questions

Shadow Lodge

hey all, quick rules question, is there any rules about a PC becoming a undead creature beside the template ones? like a gunslinger turning into a Pale Stranger? thanks all for hopefully speedy answers :D

Unless it's something like a class/archetype like Pathfinder's Knight of the Sepulcher or 3.5's Dread Necromancer pretty much it's just adding templates or however else the GM decides to do it.

No.

To the best of my knowledge, players cannot choose to make themselves any form of undead, with two specific exceptions. I think one was a contingency tied to some form of animate dead (to go off when you die) and the other is as a lich.

Everything else requires a cooperating DM to provide you with the necessary materials. You can't go vampire without another vampire to bite you. You can't choose to rise as some form of undead after death unless you have the aforementioned contingency-animate dead. All of that is in the hands of the DM. If you want to be violently murdered in a natural setting (Bhuta) only the DM gets to decide if you actually come back or if you just, you know, die. Some may even follow the suggestions in the lich fluff that "The exact methods for each spellcaster's transformation are left to the GM's discretion, but should involve expenditures of hundreds of thousands of gold pieces, numerous deadly adventures, and a large number of difficult skill checks over the course of months, years, or decades."

So, all whatever the DM says.

oo thanks for the answers, lol i figured that it would ultimatly be left up to the dm, just wanted to double check ^^

Also there are rules for a Pale Stranger to become a Gunslinger(still up to the GM if they decided to allow this)
