I think I'll make a Suli Imajaghan paladin. A Suli would fit this archetype both rules and plot-wise.

Wait and see what the Jinn-Born are like; they might be an even better fit! (I don't have any insider info or anything, it's just something that came from the setting, so... yeah :) )

My credit card got rejected. Can I still get back onboard, or am I screwed?

Usually it keeps trying at certain intervals until it goes through or 'times out' (never had that happen though). You might be able to change to a different card or something.

Here's what KS has to say about it:
Troubleshooting, aka. what do I do if my card/payment gets rejected

Yep, it retries a few times, and it is possible to use other cards with the “Fix payment” button in the banner at the top of the Kickstarter page.

Liberty's Edge

Would Mummys Mask fit in the Southlands?

Mike

Liberty's Edge

I'd say there's TONS of synergy between the Southlands book(s) and Mummy's Mask!

The Exchange Contributor; Publisher, Kobold Press; RPG Superstar Judge

Yes, the Cobra Throne and the land of Nuria Natal is similar to Osirion, and Mummy's Mask would fit into the Southlands with some adjustments.

Or you could just strip MM for parts, of course: it's loaded with good stuff.

Alternately, if your campaign is set in Golarion/Osirion, you can strip out bits the MASSIVE amount of material from Southlands and drop it in...there will be two dozen plus new creatures with their own Bestiary, a slew of new feats, spells and archetypes, a motherlode of desert/jungle oriented material that you can use whole cloth or piecemeal... :-)

Liberty's Edge

Wow, check these out!

Flat Plastic Miniatures.

Very interesting alternative to plastic minis, and having a cool Southlands tie-in doesn't hurt either :)

Scarab Sages

Question (sorry if this was covered in the kickstarter comments or the updates; I tried to scan for it and didn't see any info): Do we have a date on when items like the Midgard setting book will ship to backers? I'm eager to dig into the setting!

When will surveys go out? So that I can reserve my Midgard HC.

Liberty's Edge

Great questions!

Let me see if I can cast summon kobold-in-chief ....

Werelion PC now available. Looking forward to your comments!

I am really enjoying all of the supplements from this so far.

How far off is the Southlands Bestiary? Bestiaries are one of my favorite parts of games.

Liberty's Edge

Wolfgang can give much better details regarding the schedule, but if I remember correctly, I *think* the Southlands Bestiary should come out more or less at the same time as the Southlands Core book.

Speaking of the Southlands Bestiary, I have most of the final art in for this and holy #%&#!!!! is it awesome!!!! :)

The Exchange Contributor; Publisher, Kobold Press; RPG Superstar Judge

Correct, the Southlands Bestiary will ship around the same time as the Southlands hardcover, so this summer.

Some previews for project backers are likely before then.

When are the bonus PDF coming for backers (since I've seen them available for purchase)? I've completed my survey couple of weeks ago.

Check your spam folder, as I've seen emails for three of the cults (Doomspeakers, Emerald Tablet and Selket) and three of the advanced races (aasimar, gnolls, werelions). If there's nothing there, then you'll want to mail Wolfgang. I know my email for Doomspeakers got hung up, but the other 5 came through without a hitch.

Nothing in the spam folder. It should come as DriveThroughRPG emails, right?

That's what mine have been.

I know a few folks had snafus receiving the PDFS. Once alerted, Wolfgang was able to resend or otherwise fix the issue. I'd suggest sending a quick message via the Kickstarter page.

Liberty's Edge

I'm finding myself listening to "To Tame a Land" by Iron Maiden a LOT while I work on the Southlands layouts!

I challenge you to listen to that song and not get in a Southlands frame of mind :)

To Tame a Land

I add to that my personal favorite desert-themed metal-song The Pharaoh.

Flame of the Nile - Fire in the Darkness to swallow the light...
Behold: The Ghost of a God!

Still gives me the shivers.

And the bridge:

Don't you see that it's coming, it's near
The wise man screamed in the noble chamber
Just a parrot in a rich man's cage
He's a jester of the court

The wise man died and the seance went on
And the red one reigned in the noble chamber
In dreams of a masterplan
For a billion parrots in a big cage...

Wouldn´t be complete without this one, now would it?
Powerslave

Maiden classics and great RPG stuff - how much better could it get?

Thanks for this one - I totally missed that band until now...

I've written literally HUNDREDS of art briefs for the Core Southlands book alone, but I think I just might have written the most unique, off the wall yet coolest art briefs yesterday for the book :)

I'm so disappointed that "Being A Tease" isn't a valid reason in the Flagging system right now. >:|

Liberty's Edge

I don't think I've ever been called that before ... :)

It'll be fun to see if anyone can figure out which illustration I'm talking about once the book is released :)

Since metal started playing here I would recommend early Nile (doom-ish atmosphere rather than death metal brutality of later albums). Also acoustic project of their gutarist Saurian Exorcisms and Saurian Meditations. And also Melechesh.

DIVINE INTENT

Its Flames
Oh God it Burns
Refusing to look Away
In Agony
I become Divine

So Servant of the White Ape has the noble Joseph Kortz who is corrupted "after entering the dark heart of the southern continent".

Is Jeff Lee a big fan of Kurtz from Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness?

I´m sure that this is all a coincidence...

Indeed. I've never taken inspiration from anything I've read, nor do I give nods to things I've enjoyed or would have been inspired by, if indeed I was ever inspired by anything, which I am clearly not.

Spoiler:
I'm a complete liar (and a bad one, apparently). Yes, Conrad definitely was on my mind when I was working on this one.

I wonder if the Kobolds would let us in on any spoilage for release date on this thing?

The Exchange Contributor; Publisher, Kobold Press; RPG Superstar Judge

Sure, we are currently struggling mightily to get the hardcover book on press. It's close, which means if things go well we will hit a July release date for both the Campaign hardcover and the Southlands Bestiary. That's July for project backers--public release is more likely an early August ship date.

The project exclusives I won't guess on.

Scarab Sages

Thanks!

For those that may have missed it, there is a new Update:

"The kobolds in the word mines are cheering—the core Southlands book is at the printer, as is the poster map! Soon enough we'll see rounds of printer's proofs! We're almost there with the first book. Huzzah!"

Pop over to the Southlands Kickstarter page to read the rest, as well as check out the final cover spread etc.!

Wait a minute. Was there never a backer PDF sent out for proofreading? You're just going to print right away without backer proofreading, i.e., the issues with Deep Magic all over again?

I mean, I get the "gotta print now to make GenCon" crunch, but I'm honestly disappointed.

The Exchange Contributor; Publisher, Kobold Press; RPG Superstar Judge

We did a lot more proofreading. And yeah, we gotta make Gen Con.

I don't think you'll be disappointed by the level of attention to the text on Southlands.

PDF came!

Odd, I got the map-pack coupon, but not the one for the Pdf.

Heh, I didn't get the map pack coupon...I downloaded the map from the link in the kickstarter update (it's a pay-what-you-want on DriveThru)

Aye, I meant that one, necromental.

I haven't had time to do more than skim but first thoughts are: I loooove the art. Maps are gorgeous. I can't wait to play a werelion PC. Most of all I can't wait for the hardcover book to be in my hands! Thanks, kobolds.

Southlands PDF is available for sale as well now.

That's great to hear! We worked extremely hard to make sure the visuals (art, maps and overall graphic design) in this book, and the Bestiary for that matter, are super, extra, awesome!

Lovely, Marc. I was pleased my Azza Gremin was accepted into the Bestiary. I can't wait to see the art for it!
