I know there are quite a few threads about this but I felt the need to make my own so please bare with me.
I am trying to build an illusionist for an upcoming rise of the rune lords campaign but I'm having trouble deciding on a somethings. Right now I'm thinking gnome sorcerer but I cant decided between the arcane and umbral bloodlines. Next do you think the tattooed sorcerer archetype would be good for an illusionist? And lastly do you think I would be better off using a wizard instead of a sorcerer?
Thanks for any advice.

Arcane bloodline is pretty solid. Umbral is meh. Fey is also a good choice, as is Sylvan so you have an AC to deal the damage you won't be. Gnome is far and away the best race for an illusionist, because of both the racial trait and access to the Effortless Trickery feat. Given the nature of illusion spells, Sorcerer should trump Wizard, especially with the gnome stat modifiers.
Tattooed Sorcerer is a decent archetype, I suppose, but illusion spells don't necessarily scale with caster level the same way evocation spells do, so the Mage's Tattoo bonus feet doesn't do as much.

You can do fine as a single-classed sorcerer. Effortless Trickery is a strong choice, since you can sustain both a Ghost Sound and a Minor Image at level 1 and do some creative things.
Also, you'll want to diversify your spell choices eventually, so picking up perhaps some conjuration and summoning spells (and Augment Summoning to go with it) is a decent idea. That way you'll have some consistent damage through other spells against foes that aren't affected by illusions. Also, Create Pit + Minor Image is both funny and thematic for a gnome.

If you went with Arcane, then familiar is a better choice than bonded object for a sorcerer. Greensting scorpion, dodo, or compsognathus are good choices for the huge initiative boost. Toad is nice for a little more durability, and thrush, parrot, or raven is useful for their ability to speak. You'd eventually want to pick up Improved Familiar, and get something like a silvanshee, faerie dragon, imp, or lyrakie.
