Simple Question about "Exotic Ammunition."

Scarab Sages

I was looking into making a sling-using character (specifically a Halfling sling-staff user) and I saw that there were some pretty cool sling bullet ammunitions listed under 'exotic ammunition.' Does that mean that I have to take an exotic weapon proficiency for EVERY type of bullet? Like, the bullet that you can soak in oil to deal +1d2 fire damage? I mean, that's not worth it at all, right? Especially when there are, like, 15 'martial' arrows that don't take up extra feats if you have martial weapon proficiency.

Can anyone clear up how this works, or am I stuck with just normal sling stones and 'groaning' bullets?

Also, are there rules for a "Flask Thrower?" It says:

Quote:
This weapon resembles a halfling sling staff, except that the cradle at the end is designed to hold and hurl flasks as well as stones or bullets.

but gives no information about using bullets. Does it just lie and not use bullets, or does it count as a halfling sling-staff but can also throw alchemist items? Anyone know the official Errata?

Are you using d20pfsrd, or the actual book?

I was looking stuff up on the PFSRD, and then, if it works out, I was going to get the book.

I would not base any opinions of Paizo material based on how a 3rd party website decided to lay it out. The charts on d20pfsrd are their own construction, and not Paizo's.

I'm betting that reading the actual book will answer your question. See if you can find a bookstore that has it in stock so you can see for yourself.

You're proficient with weapons, not ammo.

Gnomes of Golarion doesn't have any additional info on flask throwers.

Only the d20pfsrd is 3rd-party. This is a paizo site. Admitted, though, that I'm not sure which one VampByday used.

It's a moot point. If Pupsocket is correct, the source materiel (Gnomes of Golarion) doesn't provide any more information.

It SEEMS like the intent is that a Flask Thrower is a Halfling Sling Staff that
1) Costs 5 more gold
2) Weighs an extra pound
3) Is not available to Halflings as a martial weapon
4) Can throw acid/alchemist's fire/liquid ice/tanglefoot bags/etc. at double the range

But, as we all know, there is often a huge difference between RAI and RAW.

He stated he was using the "PFSRD", not the PRD, hence my clarifications.

Also, Gnomes of Golarion isn't on the PRD.
