Casting Bladed Dash while prone?

Bladed Dash is a pretty nifty spell that allows you to move without provoking AoOs. Is there anything to stop you from casting it while prone? It seems quite useful in a situation where standing would provoke, so instead you cast Bladed Dash defensively, slither 30 feet and take a swing at someone (at the -4 for prone), and then you have your move action to stand up somewhere where you're not threatened.

The image is a little silly, but this should be a good use of this spell, right?

Bladed Dash:
When you cast this spell, you immediately move up to 30 feet in a straight line any direction, momentarily leaving a multi-hued cascade of images behind you. This movement does not provoke attacks of opportunity. You may make a single melee attack at your highest base attack bonus against any one creature you are adjacent to at any point along this 30 feet. You gain a circumstance bonus on your attack roll equal to your Intelligence or Charisma modifier, whichever is higher. You must end the bonus movement granted by this spell in an unoccupied square. If no such space is available along the trajectory, the spell fails. Despite the name, the spell works with any melee weapon.

I don't have a problem with this. Bonus points if you travel feet-first.

Yup, that should work. The spell doesn't increase your move speed; it just moves you, period.

/"How 'bout the power . . . to move you?"

I need to get into a new game. I've been wanting to try to make a Move-o-mancer magus for a long time.

That is so cool. Wish I would have thought of it...

It's a lovely spell, really. If you make the concentration check to cast it, it can also get you out of a grapple. I've also used it for vertical distance almost as much as horizontal - getting up on top of small cliffs or such.
