Rules Questions

I'm about to slip into a WotR game after DMing the first 3 modules. I'm planning an inquisitor using the Sanctified Slayer and Cold Iron Warden Archetypes. I have a question about a prestige class I'm considering taking.

For Sanctified Slayer:

Studied Target (Ex): At 1st level, a sanctified slayer
gains the slayer’s studied target class feature. She uses her
inquisitor level as her effective slayer level to determine the
effects of studied target. This ability replaces judgment 1/day.

So this replaces Judgment with Studied Target. (This is not a debate as to what this encompasses).

I'm considering taking some levels of Grey Gardner. The relevant text states:

Harsh Judgment (Su): At 2nd level, a Gray Gardener
can pronounce judgment on his enemies. This ability
functions like the inquisitor judgment ability, except a
Gray Gardener can choose only the destruction, piercing,
purity, and smiting judgments. For the purpose of
determining the bonuses provided by these judgments, a
Gray Gardener’s class levels stack with any levels in other
classes that grant the judgment ability
At 6th level, and
again at 10th level, a Gray Gardener can use this ability one
additional time per day.

So the question is;

If I take the sanctified slayer archetype, and levels in Grey Gardner, do the levels of Sanctified Slayer count towards my total Judgment level?

For example, would a 12 Inq (sanctified slayer/cold iron warden)/4 Grey Gardner treat their harsh judgment at level 16 or level 4?

No, your sanctified slayer levels would not count towards your judgement total. If you've completely traded out the judgement class feature, then the class no longer grants the judgement ability.

That's what I was thinking, but I couldn't find a similar example on the boards so I figured I'd ask. Thank you. =)

Liberty's Edge

Level 4. If you replace a class ability with another via an archetype, you never have the replaced class ability.

Grand Lodge

I think this is actually addressed by one of the FAQs on archetypes, as it refers to when and how things like Gloves of Dueling work with archetypes that trade off class abilities, and when it does and doesn't work for the archetype.
