MoMS - What are Compatible Monk Archetypes?

Rules Questions

Silver Crusade

Hello everyone. I'm looking at combining Master of Many Styles with another Archetype from Monk. What all Archetypes are compatible?

I read on Giant's something Forum and it stated that Drunken Master, Hungry Ghost Monk, Ki Mystic, Monk of the Lotus, Monk of the Sacred Mountain, Kata Master, and Sohei are all compatible with it. Is this correct, and are there any others?

Sovereign Court

There's always Quigong. It can be meshed with anything. (basically a requirement to make a viable monk - it was the stealth-buff for the class - it lets you trade away the class's cool sounding but mostly useless abilities for good stuff)

Frankly - I don't think much of MoMS for a pure monk. It's great if you're just dipping into monk - but losing flurry hurts their offense far too much for my taste.

This is pretty much what I'm doing. I'm giving 1-4 levels of MoMS+Something to Brawler or Sacred Fist.

The entire MOMS archetype needs to be scrapped and re-written imo. Loss of flurry makes it a poor choice for pure monk, and the access to style chain capstones at level 2 makes the archetype OP at low levels and subject to dip abuse.

At the very least, the bonus feats need to be changed to only allow entry feats at level 1, secondary feats at 2, and final feats at 6.

If you're dipping MoMS, always combine it with Sacred Mountain. Now you're getting Toughness and +1 natural armor for free on top of your bonus feats, herp derp.

@Imbicatus: The MoMS doesn't exist in my games. Instead all Monks have Fuse Style and can take style feats as monk bonus feats as long as they meet monk level requirements.

I completely agree. It's just a big ol dipping sauce for everyone to shove their fancy classes in :(

I hate seeing the Monk trampled on so hard. Unfortunately, I'm going to turn my Brawler or Sacred Fist into a real Monk now.

I stack it with Sacred Mountain sometimes depends on if I want evasion or not and Kata Master. All 3 stack.

Going off memory, I think Flowing Monk stacks.

According to HeroLab, the following archetypes can be combined with MoMS (ACG stuff not included):

- Qinggong (obviously)
- Druken Master
- Flowing Monk
- Ki Mystic
- Hungry Ghost Monk
- Monk of the Empty Hand
- Monk of the Lotus
- Monk of the Sacred Mountain
- Sohei
- Terracota Monk
- Zen Archer

I do not believe Flowing and Master of Many Styles stacks... as much as I'd LOVE that. They both seem to alter the Bonus Feats for the Monk.
