Judgement Sub-Domain: Casting time loophole?

The balance of law is paramount to you, and you ensure that transgressions are punished appropriately.

Associated Domain: Law.

Replacement Power: The following granted power replaces the touch of law ability of the Law domain.

Chastisement (Su)

As a standard action, you can cast a strengthened spell against a creature that damaged you since your last turn. This spell must target the creature that damaged you, and is cast at +1 caster level. Area of effect spells cannot be used in conjunction with this ability, but other spells that target multiple creatures may be. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Wisdom modifier.

Replacement Domain Spells: 2nd—castigate, 4th—rebuke, 5th—mark of justice.

So the way I am reading this is that it allows you to cast a spell as a standard action no matter what the casting time of it was previously.
Am I missing something here or is this interpretation correct?
The fact that you have to target the creature that damaged you is limiting but it does seem lovely nonetheless.
Fun with Geas I guess. ;)

Most spells are a standard action to cast anyway. Is there a particular spell you have in mind that this would be an issue?

By RAW though this would work.
Likely RAI is that it takes a standard (or longer). E.g, even if you can cast a spell as a swift action, using it with this ability moves it up to standard. If it takes longer than a standard though, it would remain at the normal casting time.

Geas/Quest is the best spell that comes to mind for its use since its casting time is 10min, if you can get that off in a combat round then it ends combat right there.

I'm sure there are more spells that you could use but I do not know of any off the top of my head though.

If spells with longer casting times still take their normal time then the ability usually specifies that. I'd like to think that this was an error, and I can't imagine a DM allowing you to cast Geas as a standard action.

Scarab Sages

Casting a meta magicked spell (aka a strengthened spell) is a full round action. This is intended to negate the normal meta magic casting time, nothing more. As written, it's a bit screwy, but the intent is clear.

I wouldn't have seen that as the intent, since it doesn't even mention metamagic. Frankly, they should have just left off the "as a standard action" clause; it would have been shorter and less confusing.
