Kingdom reports

Kingmaker

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Wanted to share this with the group. It's a "kingdom reports" handout I give out at the beginning of most Kingmaker sessions. It contains names and roles for everyone on the kingdom's ruling council as well as position descriptions from the SRD. Before each session, I write two to three items for each position. Some of the items are adventure leads. Some are items cadged from rumors. Some are bits of advice from a ruling council member's staff (i.e., kingdom could use a center of learning). Some are bits and pieces of council politicking. And some are inside jokes from the campaign. (IMC, Dovan and Akiros both sit on the council, and they don't like each other's much. Once, Akiros reported, "Dovan is a bloody git.")

When I hand these to my players, each player receives the report for his position. Then, I distribute to everyone reports from the NPCs on the council. From there, it's up to my players to reveal their reports to each other selectively or not, and they can make decisions about which rumors to chase.

Here's a link to my generic kingdom report sheet, if any of y'all find it useful.

That's interesting, thanks!

For what it's worth, the last few entries have some information already filled in.

Cheers!

Thanks. I think I've genericized it sufficiently now.

Here's another thing: a generic character listing. The format is based on the appendices to A Song of Ice and Fire, Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn, and other series with large casts. I spice this up with a few graphics and such, and I hand it out to my players at the beginning of each session.

Interesting stuff. I just did something similar in the last few weeks. I came across this idea on another thread here, I think, and wrote up leader reports for the character's next kingdom turn (which they haven't gotten to yet - they elected to declare war on the lizardfolk village instead and that's eaten up recent game sessions).

A while back I had the players create 2 NPCs: one that worked under them in their leadership role, and one that worked under a different leadership role. So I wrote the reports as if one of their named underlings was relating the news. I also wrote brief reports for the NPC members of the council to relate to the PCs.

The reports were meant to be recommendations on what to do in the kingdom turn that was about to start, based on current events and rumors. I'll have to modify what I was planning to give them, given their activities with the lizardfolk.
