Chapter Six: Crown of Fangs
Part Three: Legacy of Blood

Charisma Rerolls: A PC can spend a Harrow Point to reroll a Charisma-based check. She must abide by the new result (although if she has additional Harrow Points remaining, she can use them to attempt additional rerolls).

Destiny Shall Not Be Denied: A PC can spend a Harrow Point as an immediate action to force the GM to reroll a d20 roll. She must abide by the new result (although if she has additional Harrow Points remaining, she can use them to force additional rerolls).

Psychic Wrath: A PC with levels in a class that grants bonus spells based on her Charisma score can spend a Harrow Point to increase the power of a spell from that class’s spell list as she casts it. She increases the spell’s DC by 2 and gains a +4 bonus on caster level checks to overcome spell resistance and a +2 bonus on attack rolls for that spell.

Roll Card: Gain a +2 bonus on all Charisma-based checks. In addition, he treats his caster level as if it were 1 higher when casting spells gained from a class that grants bonus spells based on his Charisma score.

Any chance we can get our hands on Plague Masks and Physician outfits? We could try to dress as one. At least for those who don't wear armor. Which I think is just me. I could try to walk in, and the rest of you could be invisible. I'd be slow to hold open doors and such.

Some questions:

Are those doors at the back of the building?
Would the weres be interested in getting us in the sewers near the building. We could enter that way.

I want to avoid taking on the Grey Maidens if possible. The physicians I don't care so much about ticking off.

Good luck on your adventure!

Disguises might work as well time for a visit to a costume shop?

Congrats Sebastian.

To Iolana's questions:
Yes there are doors in the back of the building.
No there is no sewer entrance under the building.

Also, you have one plague mask and outfit from the corpse in the boat.
There are Physicians out around town that you could gank for more outfits, but they are also usually accompanied by Gray Maidens.

Impersonating a Physician is punishable by death, not that you'd be afraid of that necessarily.

We may be facing death anyway if we take on the Grey Maidens right now. I don't care about upsetting the physicians, but I don't want to tick off the elite bodyguards. Not at level 5 anyway.

They may be "elite" status-wise, but they are within your CR range so they aren't going to insta-kill you if you do get into a fight.

How about enchanting a costume into a outfit of holding? We can hide under it like a clown car

No

No more side quests this chapter. Just the hospice.

So nighttime and/or disguises seem to be the plan.

So night time and disguises. Try it.

How about Ayako's profession courtesan and heal skills give her synergy for his disguise attempt? Disguise check plus +4 (2 for profession and 2 for heal)?

Just clarify the plan so I can post accordingly.

Who is getting disguised as sick?
Is someone going to wear the Physician's outfit?
Was anyone going to be invisible?

Ayako has pretty good diplomacy to talk us through. Sebastion did make a ruckus so having him invisible might be best or Lucian since he has the heavy armor

Ayako-Doctor
Iolana+Sebastion=Sick
Lucian-Invisible

Hmm... Maybe this would be a good time for Sebastian to don his own vigilante disguise? It might seem just a little bit suspicious if two people with a group that tried to force their way in to the place earlier that day both show up sick. Plus, there needs to be somebody to scapegoat if things hit the fan.

Then again, at the pace PbP moves, creating a full plan like that might take too long. I'm up for whatever.

That sounds good, make it so.

What is Sebastian's vigilante disguise?
Is Sebastian still pretending to be sick as well?

M Human Swashbuckler 12 | Init +9 | Percp +9 | HP 93/93 | AC 27| Fort +9, Ref +16, Wil +6 |

Sebastian won't pretend to be sick. The disguise will simply be a different set of clothes worn under a black cloack and maybe a cheap mask.

Maybe grab a rat and infect Iolana with the veil so she doesn't have to act. ;)

So Sebastian's vigilante disguise is V. Sure.

Disease takes time to manifest. You're better off with the make up.

V( as in 5, not the letter) was a crazy terrorist who was the nominal hero by don't of the government being 1984 level bad. ;)

That was mostly a joke, albeit one that was difficult to resist. The mask is probably a simpler mummer's mask - the typical smiling or laughing one as opposed to the frowning or crying one.

In a previous game, I had a different character wear the Keaton Mask from the Legend of Zelda. It didn't seem appropriate for Sebastian, though.

Sidenote - while I'm not really a huge fan of Greyhawk (or FR for that matter), I always thought Olidammara had a sweet icon.

Ready to start the violence? Looks like Iolana will be getting poked.

I wasn't offended Sebastian.

I'm a big Forgotten Realms fan. Never got into Greyhawk though.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone who lives in the US. May the Pumpkin Pie be amazing to you all.

I'm not sure of Sebastian and Lucien's internet situation but with the holiday I'll give them a little more time. Otherwise I can post an action for them.

M Human Swashbuckler 12 | Init +9 | Percp +9 | HP 93/93 | AC 27| Fort +9, Ref +16, Wil +6 |

I've made it back to civilization! Weird and unexpected internet issues, first at work and then at home. But I'm back.

TPK! New pc time

Busy day today. I'll post again as soon as I get a chance.

Should I ask the harrow deck to try to identify the shirt and try to get the higher DC on the flask?

I see what you are trying to do. So let me put this out there.
There are still 15 living Varisians in beds in the other room but are in no condition to move.
When you were bringing Iolana up before, they said a bed just opened up.

Rather concerned that even if we make it out with the doctor, that there will be a purging of the sick while they flee.

I'm beginning to think we shouldn't leave and try to come back later. There may be more guards because of the missing doctor. We still haven't found Ruan, and we've asked for him by name. That could cause him problems. Assuming he's still alive.

I'm not exactly sure how HD work. At our level is it safe to assume that the two Grey Maidens are more than 4 HD together? I could ready Sleep to go off as the doors are flung open so I can see the Maidens, but there's no point if I'm fairly sure it wouldn't work on them.

If we can manage to subdue the top level, we could secure it and get the guard to take the infected.

M Human Swashbuckler 12 | Init +9 | Percp +9 | HP 93/93 | AC 27| Fort +9, Ref +16, Wil +6 |

I had originally proposed that two of take the doctor, that way two stay behind to work on getting the prisoners out. Once the others return, push further into the complex. We could instead leave Davaulus alive and tied up in his office and take on the rest of the complex now, at the risk that he escapes.

It seems foolish to assume both that the Gray Maidens don't already know about the cultists and would believe us when we told them. I'm for Ayako's plan.

At the very least, appearing as Physicians would give us a btter chance of gaining surprise.

I don't think we could get the prisoners out with just two. They would have to walk them past the Grey Maidens

The Doctor seems to be pretty well subdued.

Moo?

Are you waiting for me? I wasn't sure. No one specifically said they opened the door or did anything.

Just waiting for others input.

We might be able to get the doctor out but by the time we can organize a response, they will no doubt notice the bodies and do a panic/flee. So taking out the Maidens and remaining guards to secure thge buildings sounds best to me.

M Human Swashbuckler 12 | Init +9 | Percp +9 | HP 93/93 | AC 27| Fort +9, Ref +16, Wil +6 |

Can we expect much help from the Guard? Considering that the Gray Maidens very much overrule the Guard in terms of authority, is our say-so enough to mobilize them considering their lives would be forfeit?

Presumably, the AP assumes that we kill Davaulus here and move further into the hospice. It's unknown how long the Doctor's absence would go unnoticed for. We don't know whether the Gray Maidens are in on Davaulus's plot, and I'm not sold on the assumption that they'll start murderizing all of the patients.

From an IC perspective, we have three objectives: get Davaulus into custody, find Ruan, and make sure the other patients don't get murderized. There are 8 Gray Maidens between us and the exit. The only way out is to take out the isolated groups without raising the alarm. We've never fought a Gray Maiden; we don't actually know how tough they are. But we have to assume we're capable of fighting at least a couple at a time, otherwise we've already lost.

If we weren't worried about the patients getting murderized, this wouldn't be nearly as complicated. I'll take the blame for that, at least.

I expect it to be a little slow with the holidays. Just post when you can. No worries.

I'm still checking every day. As soon as you decide your next move I can continue.

Sebastion must be sleeping off the eggnog.

M Human Swashbuckler 12 | Init +9 | Percp +9 | HP 93/93 | AC 27| Fort +9, Ref +16, Wil +6 |

Sorry, lost internet when I left civilization. Back now.

Also, non-alcoholic eggnog is delicious. I only drink it in December, though.

Tried some with a little brandy. Found it ehh..

M Human Swashbuckler 12 | Init +9 | Percp +9 | HP 93/93 | AC 27| Fort +9, Ref +16, Wil +6 |

I think it's supposed to go with whiskey. That might have something to do with it?

Try eggnog with 7up or sprite. It's tasty.

You did find a strange button on Doctor Davaulus. Not a shirt button. Like a button you push.

A strange button?
