Interesting. We issued errata and then fixed the card before anyone saw it.

Nothing to see here. Move along.

So this one is for the Dagger.

(This change also affects many Daggers and Dagger-like cards in other sets.)

Does this mean a massive update will occur sometime in the future for the other Dagger and Dagger-like cards on their respective FAQ pages? Or are we supposed to consider these cards updated because the Skull & Shackles Dagger got an official resolution?

I was playing Rise of the Runelords this evening and refrained from playing the Dagger with a Shortbow because I knew of this update, but it would be better for people keeping track of only one set if the respective FAQs would be updated too.

I'd have to post virtually identical entries on ten different FAQ sections, and it's really not worth it. Here are the cards that it affects:

RotR Base: Dagger, Starknife
RotR Add-On: Dagger
RotR 1: Dagger +1
RotR 2: War Razor +1
RotR 4: Giantbane Dagger +1
S&S Base Set: Dagger
S&S 2: Dagger Pistol +2
S&S 4: Invigorating Kukri +1
Sorcerer: Dagger
Rogue: Dagger, Invigorating Kukri +1
Ranger: Dagger, Invigorating Kukri +1, Adamantine Poniard +1

Could you not put the "This change also effects" on a single base set card for each of the FAQs, and only have it 3 times total? I follow them all, but I would think that as long as a certain product is in print, any entries applicable to it should added.

Sorry, I know this probably isn't the thread to ask, but it was already brought up, and if I need to post a follow-up I'll do it as a separate thread.

Awww, we've been throwing daggers when we shoot our bows for months now :(

I'm not exactly seeing a huge difference between the old and the new dagger ruling. What did you do wrong exactly?

There's no Base Set for Class Decks, so it would still be a minimum of 5.

see http://paizo.com/threads/rzs2rj6d?my-temporary-FAQ-thread. This was used to rule out the possibility of playing Bow/Crossbow + Dagger on another person's check.

We changed "the combat check" to "your combat check." If you have a weapon (like a bow) that lets you use it to help somebody else's combat checks, you can't also throw a dagger. (For the record, "your combat check" already appeared on Sorcerer/Ranger/Rogue's Giantbane Dagger +1, and Rogue's Dagger +1 and Venomous Dagger +2.)

Rogue: Dagger, Invigorating Kukri +1

Animalbane Dagger +1 and Venomous Dagger +2 as well probably. Though I haven't looked at the actual cards yet.

I think the Dancing Scimitar in RotR had a similar power. Not sure of the exact wording on it either. And all 3 of those appear in some of the class decks too.

I'll be cheking later today.

So, my complete list (making some assumptions that all powers like the Dagger should be effected by this, even those which aren't very "dagger-like" weapons):

RotR B: Dagger, Starknife
RotR C: Dagger
RotR 1: Dagger +1
RotR 2: War Razor +1
RotR 3: Venomous Dagger +2
RotR 4: Giantbane Dagger +1
RotR 5: Dancing Scimitar +2
S&S B: Dagger
S&S 1: Animalbane Dagger +2
S&S 2: Dagger Pistol
S&S 4: Invigorating Kukri +1
Cleric: Dancing Scimitar +2
Fighter: Dancing Mace +2
Rogue: Dagger, Animalbane Dagger +1, Invigorating Kukri +1
Ranger: Dagger, Invigorating Kukri +1, Adamantine Poniard +1, Dancing Mace +2
Sorcerer: Dagger
Wizard: Dancing Mace +2

The following had already been changed when printed:
Bard: Dagger +1
Ranger: Giantbane Dagger +1
Rogue: Venomous Dagger +2, Giantbane Dagger +1
Sorcerer: Giantbane Dagger +1

I would like to hire Hawkmoon as an analyst. He's like a research terrier!

He is just demonstrating the "Hawk" part of his name.... just don't make him demonstrate the other part!

As I pointed earlier, Hawkmoon is just a last generation AI-robot.

I'm so afraid that if I'm lucky enough (gosh I would love that) to play a game with "it" one day, it will so much have a perfect strategy.

Just kidding... I have checked all cards yesterday and approve Hawk's list.

Although... Hawkdroid is smart enough to put "human" errors in "it's" own list to make us believe there is still blood in it's microships. Namely if I (as a human analyst) am not mistaken :
S&S 1: Animalbane Dagger +2 should be Animalbane Dagger +1
S&S 2: Dagger Pistol should be Dagger Pistol +1

PS: Sorry Vic to post in this thread but I thought it was good to have a perfect list of cards affected by the "Dagger" errata.

Is there also a small typo in Treasure Hunting? "may attempt at a check." Seems like the "at" is there by mistake. If Treasure Hunting is getting reprinted, I figured that could get corrected too.

I'm womdering, if these FAQs here are not especially S&S-related, should they apply to RotR as well?

Paizo Employee Chief Technical Officer

We can't keep updating rules for every set forever... I would strongly recommend that RotR players grab the PDF of the current rulebook and just ignore all the stuff about ships.

Pathfinder Maps, Pathfinder Accessories Subscriber; Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Charter Superscriber; Starfinder Charter Superscriber

yeah that probably makes sense. Thanks, Vic.

Sovereign Court

For rules I agree. For cards, I think the current and previous set should be updated whenever something applies. Also for any and all class decks that are still OP legal.

Paizo Employee Chief Technical Officer

I will continue to update cards in older sets as needed, though I don't issue FAQ updates for things that are primarily cosmetic, or relate to huge templating changes. For example, I'm not going to add an entry for every RotR weapon that changed from "roll your die" to "use your skill"; instead, that's just covered as a blanket advisory in one of the "New" sidebars in the S&S rulebook.

Paizo Employee Chief Technical Officer

Three related ones.

As a matter of thoroughness, page 8 should also remove "Reset Your Hand" as one of the required steps of your turn.

There are a number of smaller changes like that needed in a full rulebook adjustment, but I don't think it adds enough value to spell them out in the FAQ.

Any chance of having the FAQ as a PDF file for downloading and printing? That would really help those of us who want to take the FAQ with us when playing.

Vic has said that they won't be distributing the FAQ in PDF form here.

Plus this thread is not for us to be posting questions about the FAQ(s) but for Vic to let us know when there are updates.

I've updated the dates in the promo card list to account for the delay introduced between the Base Set and Adventure Deck 2. I didn't make any other changes.

I think there is still potentially an issue with Fire Sphere (and similar spells), even after the update. See this post. Not posting here to discuss the card or the wording, just to bring it to your attention.

Paizo Employee Chief Technical Officer

I have updated this entry to include Ghol-Gan Obelisk and Incutilis.
