Here's my attempt at Rocket:

Rocket
Advanced Awakened Cybernetic Raccoon
Techslinger Gunslinger 11

Str 12
Dex 24 (18 +2 levels +4 advanced)
Con 15
Int 22
Wis 20
Cha 12

Gear: Hadron Enforcer (artifact-level rail gun), Arc Rifle

The Hadron Enforcer deals (1d3+1) times the targets hit points on a successful touch attack, ignoring hardness and dr. It can hold three charges, consumes three charges per shot, and can only be recharged with grit points at a one to one ratio.

Feats- Technologist, Improved Initiative, Point Blank Shot, Craft Technological Arms and Armor, Precise Shot, Deadly Aim, Exotic Weapon Prof.- heavy weapons, Rapid Shot

Technic Training- Arc Rifle, Hadron Enforcer

Special Defense- "There ain't nothin' like me except me": Rocket has SR 40 against any effects that target either animals or humanoids (including benefifical spells and spell-like abilities). He can voluntarily lower this as a full-round action, and reactivating it requires a full-round action.

"I'm not as drink as you thunk I am": Rocket suffers no combat penalties for intoxication, but doubles non-combat penalties.

Sovereign Court

You should take a look at the third party book animal races racoon and the author even made a gunslinger archetype rocket racoon like.

But yeah with the technology guide out there now, crafting high powered weapons are quite possible.

But anyway the other guardians:

-Groot: Treant druid
-Starlord: Human Gunslinger
-Gamora: Half-Orc Slayer
-Drax: Half-Orc Slayer

I'd call Drax a brawler or brawler/barbarian rather than a slayer.

You'd need a medium-sized treant for Groot, but otherwise I think that's accurate. Probably also some natural weapon powers rather than the whole wildshaping thing - is there a plant-based druid archetype yet that trades out wild shape?

Sovereign Court

Beside the elf treesinger? I think that's it but frankly, it wouldn't be unreasonable to let a treant take the treesinger archetype. Druids got some spells which gives natural weapons, so not a problem really. Guess could apply the young template to the treant as well to make him medium.

I might write up Starlord as a Musketeer Swashbuckler, probably an Azata-blooded Aasimar trading out SLAs for an extra +2 dex. I like Groot as a treant Druid, good call.

I dunno...Groot strikes me more as a cohort to Rocket

Otherwise

Gamora: Slayer
Drax: Barbarian
Rocket: Gunslinger
Starlord: Bard/Rogue

Liberty's Edge

Starlord is an Archaeologist Bard with a level of Gunslinger (for Dex-to-damage in a high-gun setting).

And I'd support Groot as a Druid of some sort of custom plant race, and a full party member, though Treant works too.

I was thinking seven levels of Swashbuckler for Star-Lord combined with a custom Cape of Feinting (Leather Jacket of Feinting?) to simulate a scene from the movie.

[Edit] There are a lot of ways to model all of the Guardians. Archaeologist Bard mixed with Gunslinger works really well for Star-Lord. I'm going to write up the Cape of Feinting effect based on a Sony Walkman of Feinting requiring a perform-dance check, and write up Star-Lord with levels of Musketeer Swashbuckler with a modified future tech Musketeer archetype mixed with Urban Ranger for trapfinding and TWF. I'll write something up by late tonight, I've got errands to run and a school project to work on first.

And I'll try to write up Groot with a custom Flora Colossus racial type, a mixed plant elemental and construct. All of the Guardians work with any number of races, classes, and archetypes, they're more about doing cool things than maxing out DPR (which is good for me writing up attempted conversions, I'm not great at DPR).

Here's my attempt at Peter Quill:

Peter Quill aka Star-Lord
Azata-Blooded Aasimar Swashbuckler (Ravager archetype) 8/Urban Ranger 3
Bralani Step racial trait

Str 10
Dex 22 (16 +2 racial, +2 levels, +2 replacement for SLA)
Con 10
Int 14
Wis 10
Cha 16 (14 +2 racial)

Gear- Two custom Arc Pistols (each holds 25 charges), Orb of Trapfinding (+10 to perception checks and disable device rolls against traps), Sony Walkman of Feinting

Feats-
1 Improved Initiative, Track
2 Two Weapon Fighting
3 Technologist (trapfinding in place of Endurance)
4 Swashbuckler/Ravager feats
5 Point Blank Shot
7 Precise Shot
9 Steadfast Personality, Improved TWF
11 Dilettante

Minor Artifact- Sony Walkman of Feinting: This cassette player can run indefinitely off of one set of batteries. In addition, a Swashbuckler may play it and use a Panache point to create a Cape of Feinting-like effect against one opponent. The swashbuckler makes a perform-dance check to set a save DC. If the opponent fails a will save (DC equals 10+ perform check result) that opponent is dazed and loses their Dex bonus for the duration of the dance performance.

Ravager Archetype: A Ravager (Musketeer sub-archetype) gains proficiency with one and two handed firearms, and is treated as having weapon finesse with one-handed tech firearms. This replaces Musketeer instruction/Swashbuckler finesse.

I wrote up Rocket and Star-Lord at level 11, since in the movie they faced a world- and potentially galaxy- threatening opponent. Archaeologist Bard works better for Star-Lord flavor wise, but I think Swashbuckler works well also. He gets Dex to damage from Swashbuckler and panache works well for the character. I used Azata-blooded Aasimar to reflect Peter Quill's heritage, and because I bought Blood of Angels over the weekend and wanted to use the book.

I'm attempting Groot in two steps, creating a custom Flora Colossus race using the Advanced Race Guide rules and then writing Groot as a Synthesist Summoner.

Flora Colossus 10 RP
Small Plant
Hydrated Vitality (3 RP, when planted in soil instead of submerged)
Elemental Vulnerability Fire, Cold (-4 RP)
Plant (10 RP)
Paragon ability scores (1 RP) +4 Cha, -2 all physical

Groot
Advanced Flora Colossus Synthesist Summoner 10

Str 10 (8 -2 racial +4 advanced template)
Dex 14 (12 -2 racial +4 advanced template)
Con 16 (14 -2 racial +4 advanced template)
Int 12 (8 +4 advanced template)
Wis 14 (10 +4 advanced template)
Cha 28 (18 +4 racial +4 advanced template +2 levels)

Feats- Extra Evolution, Improved Initiative, Extra Evolution, Steadfast Personality, Nature Magic (Purify Food and Drink)

Evolution Pool- 16

I think this write-up works reasonably well, Groot has a lot of Deux Ex Machina/advance the plot abilities and some of them can be modeled with Synthesist Summoner. If there's any interest, I'll try to write up Gamora and Drax in the next few days.
