How many Blessings of Erastil are supposed to be in S&S?

Rules Questions and Gameplay Discussion

I think I may have gotten 2 extra. I have 6 copies of Blessing of Erastil and only 4 copies of all the other non-generic blessings. My fear is that this means I got shorted 1 or 2 copies of some other cards or card. Compounding this fear is the fact that the possible extra copies were mixed in with other card types when I initially opened the sealed packs. Also does an official card list exist that I can reference to check card names and quantities?

Thanks in advance

Grand Lodge

I know there are more than 4 Blessings of Erastil in my Base and Add-on combined. A quick check (I had locations already laid out) in my box and blessings deck had 5. I think you're good.

With Erastil being combat-Dexterity and so many characters needing that for melee and ranged, I'd think you'd see at least 6 to start.

Thanks for the quick reply. But, I don't have the add-on deck yet and I haven't added the first adventure pack to the mix yet either. So...still need a good count

I got 4 of each, but only 3 of Erastil. Seems you got one of mine :-)

Seems odd that there's such a mixture. Wasn't RotR a straightforward 5 of each? (aside from blessing of the gods)

I think it was 4 of each in the Base Set, and then 1 of each in the Character Add-on.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

I've got 5 Erastil's, 4 of all other non-BotG Blessings and 32 BotG. 69 total blessings. Not sure if that is correct or not...

Card count by type (in my box):

21 character cards (1 character, token & role per character)
7 adventure cards (1 Adventure Path, 1 Adventure, 5 Scenario)
28 location cards
7 support cards (6xship, 1xfleet)
34 monster cards
5 villain cards
36 henchman cards
18 barrier cards
52 weapon cards
33 spell cards
22 armor cards
37 item cards
32 ally cards
69 blessing cards
------------
401 cards
110* Adventure Deck 1 cards
--------------
511 total cards in box

* I haven't opened AD1 so I can't verify that there is that number of cards there, but there should be.

So, in my case, it seems like I have 1 extra card, but I can't find an exact number of cards that are supposed to be in the box, just "More than 500". 511 could be correct.

This seems to match with what I have as well, included the 5th Erastil blessing.

Was wondering about only 1 inflict in the spells, but it looks like there's more divine damage around in the base set here.

I have 1 inflict as well. I thought about listing every card but seemed like a waste of time since I don't know if my box is correct, if there are issues. I assume it is correct, though.

Thank you so much for taking the time to post this list. Looks like I have 1 more blessing and 1 more weapon than you. Very weird.

Is there any way people can get an official deck list from Paizo? Obviously there would have to be restrictions so that people couldn't just print the game for free, but I know with Adv 2/3 in RotRL there was an issue with a card getting printed in the wrong set, and now there are issues here. It'd be really great if there was a list we could check our base sets (and adventures, as they release) to make sure there aren't any issues?

For weapons we are the same except I have 1 more of Falcata and Whip.

For spells we are the same except I have 2 copies of find traps. These discrepancies are really starting to worry me.

There is a list on BGG (which you might know if you are the user that posted it).

Sorry, I have 2 copies of Find Traps. I typoed and put "Fire Trap" which doesn't actually exist :)

Thanks for the link, Hawkmoon! His spreadsheet matches my counts except for Blessings where I appear to have an extra Erastil. I didn't bother to go through and match card for card, but the totals are the same. So I assume:
I have an extra Erastil
Stacysensei has an extra Falcata, an extra Whip & two extra Reastils
WilliamD is missing an Erastil

Of course, this is assuming that the BGG user's list is correct... I hope WotR comes with an official card list so that I can be appropriately anal about this. :)

And we know it's correct?

No, we don't know it is correct, but it is at least a starting point for figuring out the correct counts.

FYI, I picked up a second copy and it has 4 Blessing of Erastil.

When you open the box, here are 3 big decks and one small one. When I got my first copy, I had opened the small one, found that it was all blessings and wondered why there were only 2 Blessings of Erastil. Turns out that the rest of the blessings were in the back of the third deck, but there was only one more Erastil.

So I got to looking at the decks when I opened the second copy:
The first deck starts with 7 character tokens and ends with 2x Rat Swarm.
The second deck starts with 1x Sea Drake and ends with 1x Magic Weapon.
The third deck starts with 1x Magic Weapon and ends with 1x Blessing of Erastil.
The fourth(smaller) deck starts with 3x Blessing of Erastil and ends with 32x Blessings of the Gods.

It occurs to me that a common (but by no means the only) error is to have a card missing from one of the ends of a deck. In my case I was missing one blessing at the start of the fourth deck for my first copy.

Anyway, my point is that you can do a quick check for this issue by checking the ends of each deck for the right number of these cards. Of course this only works when you first get the game, once the decks are mixed up you can't check this.

I'm not sure how relevant this is, but I can say that in the S&S play-test, there were 5 of each non-basic blessing. That does also seem to fit with there being 5 of each "new" blessing in the chapter packs.

The fact that people seem to be getting different card counts in the base set is somewhat troubling... perhaps the issues with the printer were not limited to getting the product out in a timely fashion?

I suspect that with the delayed Character Add-On Deck we'll end up with 5 of each blessing as every B blessing is also a C blessing. That also matches up with Theryon's Erastil count from his set which has the Character Add-On mixed in.

If I remember correctly, that's how it was with Runelords. You didn't have 5 of the base blessings (Erastil, Pharasma, etc.) unless you had the character add-on deck.

Since this was mentioned in another thread, there isn't any "divine" damage per se. It is combat damage that has the Divine trait. Similar to damage that had the Fire or Cold trait.

Yes, and that's exactly what everyone means by divine damage. Just like we say fire damage, or cold damage. Even Paizo calls it fire damage, cold damage, etc. on the character sheets.

Which character sheet says divine damage? I'm only seeing mention of combat damage with the Divine trait. (Which is what I'm trying to get at.)

Sovereign Court

They don't say "divine damage", but I'm showing that even Paizo doesn't specify a difference between a type of damage, and damage with that type is a trait. Look at Seoni's role power in RotE to prevent certain elements of damage. The fact that Divine isn't used that way is irrelevant, the point is that Paizo even treats them as identical, whether it's type damage or damage with the type as a trait.

Because it's easier to say than "divine spells with the attack trait." Seriously, this is just getting nit-picky :/

You guys are doing a terrible job of completely agreeing with each other.

It's humid.

If we're being completely anal, wouldn't the correct terminology be "Spells with the divine and attack traits that allow a character to use his or her divine skill plus some additional dice and/or modifiers for his or her combat check?" :P

I'll just stick with divine damage or divine combat, thanks :P

Can we get this thread back to the original point? Sorry.

It would help tremendously if Paizo would release a full official card list. That way we can all know if we are missing any cards.

Only problem is that they haven't released an official card list with quantities for any set or deck. They just release deck lists.

Which begs the question why don't they release a list with quantities? Why is it not in the rules manual in the box? Or at least as a free download on paizo.com...

Why was this thread moved to the gameplay discussion? It started in and should be in the general discussion. How do we get it moved back?

Maybe they consider it a rules question.

I'm sure Vic deemed that it was moving towards a discussion of gameplay and rules.

Honestly, not every game that has cards gives you a list of quantities of each card. I don't think the Legendary Encounters sets have card list including quantities.

I don't see why they should have to. The purpose of the deck list isn't to figure out what you have in the box but to build working decks for your characters. They've given us that.

As far as quantities, you'll have to rely on the kind and enthusiastic players that post them (inventory lists) on BGG.

Normally I wouldn't ask for an official list but with all the discrepancies that have popped up in this thread I feel its now needed.

Besides anything that comes from a user whether it is here or on BGG, may not be entirely correct.

Stacysensei wrote:

I absolutely agree ... but I'm just implying that "don't hold your breath" because they haven't (given out card inventories) before.

I was also missing an Erastil. There were four in the RotR Base Set and one in the RotR Character Add-On Deck. I just plugged in an Erastil from RotR. It's totally obvious but we make due. Especially with all the craziness going on with shipping right now, it's not worth it to me to request an extra.

Sovereign Court

Hopefully Paizo is willing to include a list of card quantities when they get around to responding to my email from last Monday about a large replacement set. It wouldn't be public, and they can see I'm subscriber, so I'm hoping they'll send it on the condition I don't distribute it.

Of course, my big concern is getting all the replacement cards. Apparently the Mac mail app doesn't actually attach anything, it just inserted the pictures of my cards into the email and mashed them all together so you can barely even tell there is a problem.

Sovereign Court

I called Paizo support today, and was told that the downloadable character sheets had quantities on them. I got very excited, and went to download the new versions, only to find that was not the case.

Is this planned for the near future and the person I talked to had the wrong timing? Or was she just flat out wrong?

Maybe she just mistook the adventure deck numbers for quantities

It has also been claimed on the Customer Service messageboards. I asked for a clarification.

Sovereign Court

That's the person I talked to on the phone, so I'm leaning towards just incorrect.
