So...we're getting six new iconics in Occult Adventures.

Their races haven't been announced yet.

We still don't have any non-core race iconics.

We still have a need for sexy "bishounen" iconics to balance the fanservice scales.

The iconics featured in Hell's Rebels have not been announced yet.

Hell's Rebels is looking to be a very social-RP heavy AP.

Hell's Rebel's is set in a one of the countries with the highest tiefling populations in Golarion.

Just throwing that out there. :)

How much HP does that have?

I'd love me some non-core iconics though. Bring on hot Samsaran chicks and bishie Tieflings.

Oh, Mikaze. Never change.

Moar sexy bishie tieflings plz.

Point for point response go!

No announced races yet. Yep.

I think the core devs have stated they wont use any non-core races for iconics.

I agree. A sexy young male would probably be welcome at this point along with an aged woman. We already have middle aged men, aged men, young women, and middle aged women.

The iconics featured in Hell's Rebels havn't been announced yet and this book should come out in the same month as book 1 of Hell's Rebels. None of the ACG iconics feature in Iron Gods, so assuming precedent......

I hope Hell's Rebels is social heavy. Hopefully Paizo will use a system that doesn't involve "I role a huge modifier at it" or "I use real life charisma to get the job done," but more a combination of the two. That way characters built to talk will be rewarded and people who pay attention and find the right stuff to say can also be rewarded.

It is, but it's also set in "almost not Cheliax" the city. If the AP does not feature overthrowing the National government of Cheliax and only focuses on that one city, then we probably shouldn't expect the setting to be super Chellish.

It'd be nice to have an "old lady" iconic. Just speaking visually--it makes for a more varied lineup.

Hey, how about a bleachling, huh? Give those guys some screentime. Not that they care.

Ah but it doesn't have to stay that way if they can be convinced that it would be an awesome the best idea. :)

Besides, we have plenty of core iconics in place already to represent core-centric-ness-ness by this point!

How horrifying and completely out of place in Pathfinder.

I personally would love it if that Aasimar with Stag horns becomes an Iconic. Also we need a Tiefling. Other races I think would be appropriate as iconics are Tengu, Dhampir, Genie races like Ifrit, or Duergar. Some of the other races seem less "PC" and more "Antagonist NPC".

I think a dashing young man Dhampir would be pretty cool.

Also they should hire the artist who drew Valeros weight lifting more often. Also whoever drew all the people on this cover!

I understand not wanting to use some of the weirder races, like catfolk or nagaji. However, I don't see why we can't have an aasimar or a tiefling iconic. They've been apart of the game for years, people are very familiar with them, and they're popular PC choices. I don't see why an exception can't be made for this corner case.

Also, I second the inclusion of an old lady iconic. Since we have Ezren, we need an elderly lady iconic to balance that scale a little.

When I have to read words like "bishounen" etc what ever the hell that means I can't take a post seriously any more.

Bishonen

I don't think it's meant to be taken seriously Zaister... ;)

You can keep your bishie tieflings, I just want my shirtless buff hslf-orcs.

But as for non core races, some of the races represented in society would be cool and maybe some ratfolk, full orc, goblin, changeling, or, dare I say, kobold?

Yet when people write words like "Cheliax" or "bloodrager" it's serious business?

Some folks are asking that a specific aesthetic be acknowledged, an aesthetic that when you think about it goes all the way back to like Ancient Greece.

It's not really my cup of tea, but if folks want handsome skinny dudes I'm not going to hold it against them.

I will say however that in addition to my request for an old lady iconic, I also want a full-figured iconic. As a fat dude I'd like to see some representation and psychics don't need to run when they can float everywhere Baron Harkonnen style.

Although not Baron Harkonnen fat, I'm talking more Sammo Hung, Voodoo Lady, Kingpin, Doctor Octopus or Amanda Waller.
(All images totally Safe For Work).

Eh, now that I think about it, I guess it makes a lot of sense to not have non-core iconics from a practical standpoint. I assume on one hand, while Paizo makes most of its money creating lots of options, they want the actual game to be able to run with the least books possible, so if you have a non-core iconic suddenly people need the ARG just to play it or you need to use up more space to clarify abilities or make an alternate one for ARG-less people to play; granted, while the existence of the srd and archives of the nethys pretty much makes this a non-issue for the majority of the players, there are still some who either don't have reliable internet or refuse to use something they can't hold in their hands.

Then there's PFS; I imagine they wouldn't want to release an iconic with a race illegal for PFS, because then they either couldn't use it there or would have to blow even more money making a version that is usable and that would get confusing and costly.

Still, I want my ratfolk, orc, and kobold iconics dammit.

Sovereign Court

Now that nagaji, wayang and kitsune are legal in PFS, maybe it's time to talk about race iconics?

Oh, and I have no objection to more good-looking menfolk.

Hey now it's Japanese terminology, not otaku terminology. The term "otaku" is actually considered an insult and you should not use it unless you mean to insult.

What word do you use to describe sexy young men?

We use ridiculous words in this hobby all the time, Cheliax, Illithid, BAB, Vancian Spellcasting. It's shorthand for:

Evil Empire of Devil Worshippers
Squid-headed monsters,
Base Attack bonus,
A game mechanic to represent magic which is modelled on the fiction of the writer Jack Vance.

I haven't watched Anime in years, I hear some of it is good and some of it is bad. But when we take part in a hobby that is basically playing pretend with dice, I don't think it's right to be dismissive or authoritarian of other people's language use.

To the nine Hells with Race or sexyness!
We need an Iconic who worships Vildeis, like, NAO.

But seriously, cakes are wonderful and delicious, so there must be cakes with beef for the people who like them, too.

Cakes are serious business!

Sovereign Court

Bishonen sounds about 3% more dignified than Twink, so...

Going on the record as a female who enjoys a little fanservice as well - male AND female-wise. In their efforts at inclusion, Paizo has worked hard to divorce femininity and masculinity from actual gender, but please, please let's try to do a little 'including' of the majority as well.

Lascivious, salacious, sensual, sexual, feminine, masculine, erotic... these aren't the dirty words they're made out to be.

I generally try to take things as they are intended, not as they can be technically misinterpreted.

As stated before, throw my hat in for some sexy skinnier guys. Long silver haired blue-eyed ones major plus.

Also, we need some full-figured women. Preferably, something nice and squishy... And NOT a halfling! Plump people need some love too! Everybody always underestimates the cuddle factor.

Also... I'd like to see the following races as iconic: Android, samsaran, kobold, full orc (preferably female for this one), tengu, catfolk, and lashunta. Samsaran most definitely :)

Social-RP heavy RP? YAY! Smashing things with my sword and blasting them with fireballs has been fun, but there does need to be some more talky and less hitty.

Maybe this would be a good place to get some out of combat and out of combat-gear iconic pictures as people were suggesting over in the "Desexed" thread.

I don't think I've ever needed one. Maybe simply because I have no clue if a guy is "sexy" or not. And if, as a GM, need to describe a good-looking male person, I'd probably say just that.

Er... hunk?

(Strange how that word isn't considered offensive actually, given the demeaning origin. Then again, plenty of words that describe women could be considered demeaning so I guess it all washes out.)

Female Lashunta Kineticist or Telepath for an iconic.

When I think of psychic magic I do not think of Aasimar, Tiefling, or any other planetouched race. I think of aliens, aberrations, some humans, and maybe creatures from dreams and nightmares.

Funny, I was going to say the same thing about bishonen :p

Course I hate most anime so... what we need is more Jojo's characters. Ridiculous proportions with fabulous poses. Would be funny.

That was pretty much my point up above. It's always a bit funny to see where us nerds draw the line at things.

Someone, Chris is staring at this thread intently, trying to decide whether or not she should nuke it with her orbital bombardment lasers because A) it has veered so heavily off-course and B) because half the posts are insulting the inconceivable concept of sexy men (as opposed to rugged, bad-ass men) in roleplaying games.

Anyway, back on topic, I wouldn't mind seeing an overweight or barrel-chested iconic either. I wouldn't want his / her RP fluff to constantly be, "Oh, fatty's out of breath again!" or anything, but it would be nice to get some acknowledgement that adventuring isn't just for thin people and just because you're adventuring doesn't mean that you magically "burn off all the fat" or anything. I've always hated that excuse. And traditionally speaking, in Pathfinder fat people are generally portrayed as people that I'm not supposed to like, such as corrupt villains (like the leader of the Shadow Lodge) or annoyances to the party (like Horgus in Wrath of the Righteous). It would be a breath of fresh air to get an iconic with an atypical body shape.

I also liked the idea of a Middle Aged female iconic. It would be great if she was the iconic Medium, but I could also understand getting a male medium to play with people's expectations, since all of the best-known mediums in real-life and in fiction are stereotypically female.

Finally, since the kid's track has been growing nicely and psychic powers don't necessarily need physical strength, I'd like to see a young iconic. Not necessarily a child, but someone very clearly in the Youth age category. Paizo's been getting better about including children in their adventures and modules, but the inclusion of a true Youth iconic would help cement that inclusion for younger audiences. Plus it would give them a literal poster child for the kids track.

Yep, just means "big fan" where anime and manga are concerned, iirc. I hope this isn't another instance of the Paizo boards tendency to label all things anime/wuxia/eastern as 'weabo'.

Just for the record. I have nothing against the concept, and it's not my intent to insult it.

Just a heads up, people aren't asking for sexy men. Rugged, bad ass men can be sexy too. What people are asking for are less rugged, more feminine men that are sexy. Less like Hugh Jackman and more like, idk, Misha Collins.

My point is mostly about how silly it is to ridicule someone for their likes when their own wants can be turned around and made to be as perceivably creepy as the former. Especially when that poster being poked fun of isn't even here to defend themselves.
