How do I get a non spellcaster to be able to cast a level 1 spell on himself?

So I have a pair of minis that would work great as a brawler and his enlarged person version.
What are my options, in Pathfinder society, to be able to cast this on himself?

Use Magical Device and a wand?
Potions

What other options exist?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Cloak of the hedge wizard - transmutation

I'm guess you're wanting enlarge person and not any 1st level spell right?

You've covered all the options for enlarge person I'm aware of. Bloodrager abyssal where you trade spells for SR also counts too I guess. Barb with Abyssal rage power too.

Well, a Rogue can get Minor Magic/Major Magic. And an abyssal bloodrager can get enlarge before he has access to spells. But I don't think that's what you're looking for.

If you have a friendly wizard, you can give him your wand and spare yourself the check.

Scarab Sages

Cracked Vibrant Purple Prism

Also works for two-handed melee that want to cast Shield

You will still need a wand or a scroll, but can do it without UMD as a half-elf if you give up favored class benefits.

Arcane Training: Half-elves occasionally seek tutoring to help them master the magic in their blood. Half-elves with this racial trait have only one favored class, and it must be an arcane spellcasting class. They can use spell trigger and spell completion items for their favored class as if one level higher (or as a 1st-level character if they have no levels in that class). This racial trait replaces the multitalented racial trait.

Liberty's Edge

Silver Spindle is also an option

1. Worship Urgothoa
2. Take Potion Glutton feat (inner sea gods, must worship Urgothoa) -drink potion as swift action that doesn't provoke
3. Buy a Glove of Storing - 10k - retrieve item as a free action
~stay where you are, retrieve, quaff, and you still have a move & standard action left (or full round)

other option

1. Play a scenario that will give you access to a Medlance (season 6 technology item)
2. Have a Spring-Loaded Wrist Sheath (adventurer's armory) - wands can be stored in wrist sheaths, a medlance is a "wand-like" item.
3. Put a potion of enlarge in your Medlance.
~In combat, when engaged, take a 5' step away from the mob you're engaged with, use a swift action to get your Medlance out from the wrist sheath (invokes an AoO, hence the 5' step), use your move action to inject yourself (invokes an AoO, hence the 5' step). Now you've got a standard action left, but is much cheaper (though the Medlance has limited uses) than the first option

You could also dip Alchemist to get a mutagen and Enlarge Person. Not sure if you consider that a "spellcaster".

This may be exactly what I am looking for, as it's a "Dr. Jeykyll and Mr. Hyde" type of character I am envisioning.

Ring of spell storing and a friendly caster who an refill it for you.

If he looks good as a brawler, he'd probably be a jim dandy bloodrager too.
