Arazyr |
Arazyr was the name of a background character (one might say "NPC") in a "story" (more like solo campaign) I was writing in my homebrew world. He took one of the pieces of the MacGuffin and hid it away, and was never seen again. Anyway, I adopted it as my general online handle, because it was basically a random string of letters and I figured nobody else would ever use it. But, when I signed up here, going with the "old wizard" aspect of the original character seemed appropriate.
Although, in high school there was another kid who always called me "grandpa" for some reason. He said I looked like an old man. Never quite understood that...

My avatar looks just like me DMing.
It's amazing to me how easy it is to confuse who's talking, by looking at the avatar instead of the name. For example, it's hard for me to accept that KaiserDM isn't TOZ, Successful Troll isn't F2K, and that zylphryx isn't the infamous Samuel Weiss.
Whenever someone new swipes my avatar, I feel like I have to run around clarifying that this person isn't me. Seems like, if you've been using an avatar consistently for several years and are still active, it should be temporarily "retired" from the options!

Nope, I am definitely not Samuel Weiss (and his posts actually had me consider changing the avatar back then).
Though I know exactly what you mean. I get a kick out of when one of the other 100 or so other folks using this avatar posts in the same thread as I do. It's like an illithid invasion.

The leaders of Abyssal hordes and queens of Abyssal nations, the dreaded mariliths serve demon lords as governesses, advisors, and even lovers, yet their brilliance as tacticians makes them most sought after as generals and commanders of armies. The most powerful mariliths serve no one, and instead command ravenous fiendish legions.
A marilith is 6 to 9 feet tall and measures 20 feet from head to tail tip. It weighs 4,000 pounds. Only the most arrogant and proud evil souls, typically those of cruel kings, sadistic generals, and exceptionally violent warlords, can trigger the manifestation of a marilith.
The question isn't why I chose the marilith avatar, the question is why didn't any of you? Because you can't beat this.
Also, Hama, you're a gnoll, just a fyi.

I must say there is a certain fondness to it. And lashings, of course. Reminds me of my mother, really. Probably because of the lashings. I miss the old home sometimes.

Admittedly, I managed to find a few of those - like a desiccated undead child with a doll, a rather attractive (if seemingly sleepy-eyed) couatl, and a carrionette (the "Evil Pinocchio" monster from a RAVENLOFT adventure; scary enough for Stephen Moffet to rip off for a Dr. Who villain, actually).
I liked the undead child with a doll the best.

Mine says "I wanted an image of a female with short dark hair, and was really glad to see they had uploaded my favourite such from UC". I've used the name Scythia in lots of games, and have a look in mind that goes with the name.
Amusingly, in real life I have hair that's long enough that people often ask how many years it took to grow.

Krusk.
I find the ponderous, the ridiculous, and the silly to be charming. Krusk embodies all of that with his strange facial expressions, disproportionate form, and often-times hilarious art.
I mean look at the guy:
Just look at the way he tied that dagger to his arm.
Wow.
He represents everything I like about what your fantasy character can be. I rarely play handsome men. To me, that is a boring. I'd rather be some comically huge dude trying to fit in with all the shorties.
