Questions about the Dust Knuckles

Rules Questions

1 person marked this as FAQ candidate.

So I have three little questions regarding the dust knuckles.

1: Are you considered armed, as with a gauntlet, when you punch someone with the Dust Knuckles ?
I think yes, as they are under the alchemical weapons, but I'm not sure, as they doesn't have a precise category, and else. It could totally be an extension of an unarmed strike.

2: Can you use the dust knuckles again after you punch someone if you provide it with other vials ? If you can, what's the action to do so ?

3: About the poison and the vials, are you using one dose, or up to 4 doses of poisons with it (each triggering when you punch the poor bastard) ?
It says you use 4 Dust Knuckles vials, but I think it is the former, as you can use the Diamond Dust Vials only in a set, but I keep wondering.

DUST KNUCKLES

This fingerless leather glove includes four small pouches sewn along the knuckle line into which
you can insert tiny vials of brittle glass sealed with wax. You can fill the vials with ground glass or poison. When you punch someone in the face, the vials shatter, releasing their contents into the target's face and eyes.

Bump!

I'd like to use it in the next sessions, so some opinions or FAQ could be of use.

I believe that it's a one use item, as in all four vials are used at the same time. I have trouble seeing how you can accurately punch someone in the heat of battle and only break one.

I understand the vials are disposables, and you need to use the 4 in one punch.

But it seems to me that you can "reload" the glove, as you can buy the vials separately.

And my biggest question is about the poison!
There's a difference between using 4 doses of poison in one punch (meaning you potentially can trigger 4 poisoning in one hit), and spliting one dose in 4 vials.

I'm sure you can reload it, it doesn't say that the gloves are useless after one attack, plus you can buy more vials. In my opinion, it'll probably be a full round action - pulling the next set of vials out of your pocket, and affixing them in each of the slots on your knuckles. You could more than likely bring it down to a move action with Quick Draw or something similar - a swift action to dig it out of your pocket and a move to install them.

As for the poison, I think it might be one dose split into four vials, because the area around a knuckle isn't that big.

My take:
1)
With unbroken vials = armed
Without = unarmed

2)
"the vials shatter" = one shot item, needing reloading to activate

3)
I agree with DekoTheBarbarian.
