As the title says. Is an Amulet of Mighty Fists an appropriate target for the Inspired weapon special ability?
This special ability can be placed only on simple weapons, hand crossbows, rapiers, shortbows, short swords, and sword canes...
So simple weapons only.
This amulet grants an enhancement bonus of +1 to +5 on attack and damage rolls with unarmed attacks and natural weapons.
Alternatively, this amulet can grant melee weapon special abilities, so long as they can be applied to unarmed attacks.
So you can apply any melee weapon special ability that can be applied to unarmed attacks.
Table 1-4: Simple Weapons
Unarmed Attacks
Unarmed Strike
So Unarmed Attacks (of which Unarmed Strikes are a subset) are listed as simple weapons.
It seems relatively clear-cut to me that it should work, but I'm interested to see any arguments against it.

Seems reasonable to me. I'd balk at something like keen/vorpal, maybe.
What's the source for "Inspired"? I don't see it in PRD yet.
It's from the Advanced Class Guide:
INSPIRED

This special ability can be placed only on simple weapons, hand crossbows, rapiers, shortbows, short swords, and sword canesUE. In the hands of an investigator, an inspired weapon reduces the cost of using inspiration on attack rolls made with the weapon. The weapon’s wielder needs to expend only one use of inspiration to augment his attack rolls with this weapon, as with the combat inspiration investigator talent. If the wielder already has the combat inspiration talent, the wielder must still expend one use of inspiration, but in addition to adding the result of the inspiration roll to the attack roll, the investigator adds twice the result of the inspiration roll to the weapon’s damage roll.

So...I think it would only be permissible if unarmed strikes count as simple weapons. And I don't think they actually do.
Edit: Oh wait, they actually do!
Weapon Descriptions
Weapons in this section are listed alphabetically by their full names. A few weapons had their names altered to be consistent with how other weapons are named; for example: "flail" and "heavy flail," are now called "light flail" and "heavy flail."
