Jumping on a dragons back?

Advice

Grand Lodge

So one of my mythic players wants to jump on a flying dragons back and do awful things to it with hs sword. What sort of rolls would be required? Obviously jump, he says ride, i say acrobatics vs cmd. Once on the dragons back can the dragon attack the player full round action or can he not reach the player, is it a graple check? What should i be considering?

Maybe this belongs in the advice section. Can i move it there?

I can't speak for what should or shouldn't be rolled because, well i just don't know what you should be makeing for rolls. But i can say that with a dragons bite haveing reach. It should have enough to bite someone on his back.
I hope that helps you alittle bit.

I would make a ride check against the dragon's CMD to not fall

Turns out I didn't need it after all. The barbarian failed his save VS Frightful Presence. Fight turned out nicely.

This is a weakness of the d20 system, it's too mechanically detailed but doesn't provide any framework for heroic deeds. I'd like to see a future suppliment that covers things like this, topping tables and similar that doesn't rely on a heavy skill investment.

In thw above example, a Reflex save might have worked, but then what? There's not a lot in the rules to cover a positional advantage, at best you might count as flanking but you're still stuck hammering away at the HP

It doesnt provide a framework for heroic deeds for a non-spellcaster, sure. Mages can blow up a damn mountain with their mind.
