advancing mindless lemures

Advice

Hello all

My party is currently battling devils, and have heard of a company where the devils generally are tougher, and better trained than average... Next session they want to go hunting for them...

I've always been a fan of giving class levels to monsters because that make it harder for the players to know the challenge level of a given monster.

I would like fir the majority of the devils to be lemures, but need advice on how to make tougher and better trained lemures. Class levels in a mindless creature doesn't make sense, and throwing on the advanced template isn't enough (the party is level 14).

I do not aim for the lemures to be a real challeng, but shouldn't be a complete walkover either... (aiming for cr 8-10 tops...)

There's a mob template in the DMG II of the 3.5 edition. It turns any creature into a CR8 mob.

Otherwise, you could add the giant and the advanced template.

Scarab Sages

4-6 Lemures with the Advanced Template, 2 extra HD, and supported by a couple of Bearded Devils, overseen by a Barbed devil would make for a good challenging encounter

Will look into the mob template, thanks.

I was thinking about making a swarm, however the mob sounds great.

The extra hd could work too... With the right teamwork feats (based on 11 wis... Like pack animals) thetes possibilities there too.

Thanks both foir ideas...

haven't seen the mob template but you also have troops

Personally I'd have very few qualms about adding barbarian levels to mindless beasts
