Slow Firing Weapons + Attacks of Opportunity

Rules Questions

Hello Everyone,

Wanted to ask how this actually works. Gunslinger / Slow Weapons.

New Weapon type in the Iron Gods / Technology Guides ::
Slow-Firing: A slow-firing weapon requires a full-round action to use, and thus cannot be used to make iterative attacks.

- - - -

How does this work with Attacks of Opportunity? Point Blank Master Snap Shot, Combat Patrol, etc.

Also how do other feats work with this? Does it mean they cannot make attacks of opportunity or any other attack actions? Does this also mean that using it with "Pistol Whip" won't work either?

Just want to know, as I have one view on it, but that's because Slow Firing should have been more than two sentences long in my opinion.

Attacks of Opportunity are made with melee weapons, not with ranged weapons, so whether or not a weapon is a slow firing weapon makes no difference as far as attacks of opportunity are concerned.

*le sigh*

I meant "Snap Shot" and other abilities that gave Attacks of Opportunity.

I'd say you could use it for an AoO the same way a wizard could use an AoO while Monster Summoning, which is also a full round action.

i.e. You can't.

Snapshot line lets you AoO with ranged weapons.

To the op, you would be able to use pistol whip style AoOs, but probably not Snapshot AoOs, at least RAI. Pistol whip I know is fine, since its a specialized improvised attack with the weapon, not using it as a firearm. For normal use, the weapon grants a new full-round action that lets you make a single attack. Anything that affects an attack would modify it, but it is not a full attack for things that modify full attacks, like iteratives. This also prevents Snapshot from working, as it is more specific. The only way to use the weapon as a firearm is a full-round action.

There is a difference between full-round casting and 1 round casting, the former allows AoOs and the second doesnt, this is the former.

Dunno the designers intent but given the power of slow firing weapons and the fact that all except the id rifle are area-of-effect weapons I would say that AoOs from slow firing weapons is not allowed as it would be unbalancing.

I forgot the autograppel which has neither very high damage or an area-of effect but is strange enough in how it works to be a candidate for banning from AoOs.

That's my personal thoughts on the AoO's - but I'm looking for word of god sorta thing. Though I doubt that will happen.

Problem is that I don't think they gave it much thought.
Currently playing a Techslinger (Gunslinger Tech Archetype)
Using Ricochet deed, as well as Signature Deed (To negate charge use for Rail Gun)

Our DM is trying to figure out what is "Broken" and not playtested properly, etc. So I'm trying to plug gaps through play and just asking general consensus.

If you want Word of God, then AoOs are allowed. If you want a dev response to your question, there were some responses on the product page for the Technology Guide although I don't know if the devs are still looking at that page.

Also someone else may have asked there and been answered already.
