Retiring from PbP Games

Hi,

are there any rules for retiring from PbP Games?

A game I'm in at the moment got stalled somehow. The last posts from the GM were one post on August 4, one post after that on August 12 and that's it. Nothing since then. I'm afraid if we keep the pace like that we won't finish before end of the year. Is there any chance that I can get out of the game to play the character in local games? Some of the other players also think about retiring.

Thanks in advance.

You can leave, but there are differing guidelines for reporting, chronicles, and such. These are based on when you left, specifically the percentage of the scenario completed. If it is close to done another GM might be able to take over. If it hasn't really started, it can probably be ignored (not likely). Everything in between will take some more detail to give an actual answer.

In most cases you will be going through the Online Venture Officers:
Online: Jesse Davis, Venture-Captain; Arthur Perkins, Venture-Lieutenant & Brandon Cecil Venture-Lieutenant. Their contact info is on the Regional Coordinators page.

For my own curiosity, what scenario? link?

It looks like this one.

To be honest, I think your expectations are a little high. A GM going missing for 96 hours isn't grounds for retiring from a game. If a GM hasn't been heard from for ~3 weeks and isn't responding to PMs (and didn't announce their unavailability), that is the time you might want to think about contacting one of the online VOs for advice.

You can leave a table at any time for just about any reason. They should have your PFS number and you should receive a chronicle based on what you have completed while there.

Thanks a lot for your replies :)

Yes, it's the game linked by Paz. It's Risen from the Sands for PFS credit. We started with five players, one player already retired and I'm afraid it will become a TPK. I respect that the GM has to work of course, and it's not that I don't want to finish the game. I wanted to know my options if it keeps like that, because my charcter is blocked as long as I'm in the game.

It can be frustrating, Baerlie. But for now I would suggest hold on just a few more days. Gen Con is wrapping itself up in a nice little bow and many people, players and GM's alike, are going to be recovering from it for another day or three. This may or may not be the case for the current lull, but that's the drawback of PbP.
