Dazing / Maximize Spell and the spell-slots being used for sorcerers

Rules Questions

Hi everyone,
I searched numerous sources, including this messageboard(s) and couldn't find an answer to my following question.
Therefore I request your help to either point me to the place where I can find the answer or answer it yourself.
Thank you very much in advance.

I am playing a level 4 sorcerer and just leveled up to 5.
I am considering taking the Dazing Spell feat.
At 5th level I can cast spells up to level 2.
If I would modify a "burning arc" to be a "dazing burning arc", would it count as a 5th level spell? And would I be able to cast it, although I usually could just cast level 0,1,2 spells?

Thank you.
---------------------------------
Dazing Spell (Metamagic)
You can daze creatures with the power of your spells.

Benefit: You can modify a spell to daze a creature damaged by the spell. When a creature takes damage from this spell, they become dazed for a number of rounds equal to the original level of the spell. If the spell allows a saving throw, a successful save negates the daze effect. If the spell does not allow a save, the target can make a Will save to negate the daze effect. If the spell effect also causes the creature to become dazed, the duration of this metamagic effect is added to the duration of the spell.

Level Increase: +3 (a dazing spell uses up a spell slot three levels higher than the spell’s actual level.

Spells that do not inflict damage do not benefit from this feat.

You will need to spend (and also having the character level for that) a 5th level slot spell for that spell. If you want your spell to be "dazing", use a Metamagic Rod Dazing (lesser, normal, or greater).

Thanks for your quick reply.
If I would use the rod instead of the feat, would it still consume a higher level slot which I don't have?

no, that is why rod are good. They don't raise the spell slot requirement of the spell used. so your dazing burning arc would still require a level 2 slot when using a rod.

Using the dazing feat on burning arc would normally require the 5th level spell slot
