if you have any questions feel free to ask.
races are core+aasimar/teifling full hpz per level.
GM_Rorek |
Valen- monks are fine,
Trekkie-its a PbP
it was put on haitus due to unfortunate events, starting her back up now, there is a gameplay/discussion thread with the linked information if you have the time and inclination to read through it.
I would recommend reading the campaign information tab as it has lots of the house rules being implemented, as well as the first gameplay post as it helps set up what is going on. somewhat.
GM_Rorek |
I don't have the finalized version of the ACG, that said, feel free to use some of them. (ofc, none of the spellslinger classes)
wow, nice rolls all around lol.
remeber to check up on the info, there are a few homebrewed Items just for this setting you may want to look into purchasing, also healing potions are a bit better in this game than normal pathfinder.
Thalos-

also, whenever you have the OK, feel free to post in the gameplay/discussion thread. Its the same link as the one taking you to the information.
Gavin- nothing stands out as wrong, feel free to go ahead and post.

classes- no full casters, here is how I am handling partial caster classes as the following-
no spells, (this includes scrolls and wands, though potions of certain things will be allowed)
Class abilities that heal such as channel and LoH will be allowed,
to make up for lost spells
clerics- Recieve full HD and bab, also gain a bonus feat every 4th level (starting at level 4) and one bonus battle maneuver at 5th, and 16th level.
paladins/rangers/inquisitors-
in replace of spells lost receive a bonus feat every fourth level, and 1 bonus Tome of battle maneuver at 5th level.
otherwise go for it, I would consider staying away from most ranged focused characters though. (though not disallowing them persay)
Vrog Skyreaver |
Vrog, it is fast healing 1 per 20 hp, not 10, so just Fast healing 3 atm.
but how can I cheat if you call me on it? (j/k totally my fault).
I did look at the homebrew stuff, and i'm going to take lightning strikes as a level 7 feat me thinks.
Also, I assume that the I have the okay to start posting in the discussion and gameplay threads?
GM_Rorek |
note, on the way I run encounters... bosses (or the like) can and WILL (if poor decisions are made) roflstomp you, I will pull a punch here and there if you haven't been with me before, everyone gets one... after that *evil GM laugh*.
that said, its not much worse than a normal GM haha, not out to kill ya, just give you a nail biting challenge.

Hello GM_Rorek, I was looking at some of the info in the Campaign Tab, and it looks really interesting, even though I assume I am not familiar with SOA :D
One question regarding class abilities - since paladins, rangers and clerics get a lot of stuff to replace the loss of spells, from your experience, doesn't it kinda widen the gap to... Say rogues for example?
I'm not planning on playing one obviously :D
GM_Rorek |
rogues have always been a special case, I usually forget to mention it though, If someone really wants to play a rogue I usually give them full Bab + HD starting out. They are also allowed a somewhat homebrewed feat to give them a "guile" pool based on there wisdom, which opens up ninja tricks that use ki via taking the "ninja trick/advanced trick" rogue talent which IDC if they take multiple times. Due to everything else I have been working out for the game I forgot to mention it to Gavin, or well, anyone for that matter so thanks for asking.
Albion, The Eye |
Thanks for the prompt answer GM_Rorek. I've got a few more :D
Regarding character creation, let us say I chose the foible system, and rolled
1d10 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
1d10 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
1d10 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
1d10 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Dang!!
Am I still entitled to chose a character from an image?
If I do, I imagine the only possible boon are the traits?
Also, regarding the full BAB on the rogue, does that mean they progress as full BAB like a fighter, or the usual 2/3 but starting at +1 already?
Albion, The Eye |
Dang, I love Image 1, but I've got a nice idea for Image 2 also ;)
Unfortunately, Image 3 is not opening for me.
GM_Rorek, I was looking at both the recruitment and discussion threads and I am not sure - is there anyone selected yet? And if so, what are their classes? Just pondering where I may fit my character ;)
Theorythmus |
Well, you got me doubting between 1 and 2. I'm thinking in the direction of some form of defender guy with a big shield. Although he was the bad guy and was cheating, I still thought the idea behind Heathcliff's fighting style was interesting.
A few quick questions :
- How close do you want the character to resemble the picture? Like does the character have to use the pictured weapon (like the hammer with picture 2)
- Would that shield in the first picture be big enough to be a tower shield?
- How long does a stance stay?
- Any particular point you want us to jump in?
I have a few more questions, but I'll send those through pm. Currently on iPad and it would be quite a hassle to type them out.
GM_Rorek |
as of right now, IIRC we have a two slayers , ranger , jotun duel wielding barbarian, Zen archer monk, ranger2/rogue3, and, a swashbuckler 3/MoMS monk2 IIRC, haven't seen her post lately though her second half is still with us so I assume she is. Image 3 was, IIRC an archer in mail armor, and I am not quite sure why it is not working :(.
the way I am running this is a bit different, it is an attempt at something which, in hindsight, will probably get tiring (though enjoyably so). I will be accepting -most- applications They way it works is, its completely open, if you want to do something other than the "main" story arc away from the group you may, it will be more dangerous of course, but rewards don't increase or decrease based on the amount of PCs so more for solo guys (though I recommend a buddy haha). OR, as long as you PM me and talk to me, and keep things civil, PvP -is- a possibility, though I will ask again, to talk to me before doing so. SO, in short, its open to you, either say you are going off to "blank" place. (feel free to insert your own idea here, helps keep players more invested IMO, and its a just that little bit of extra work off me) OR, say you are going to check out the public post board in the middle of a town and I will respond with several different events or such you could choose from.
TL:DR= most everyone who applies will get to play, Its open world so you can do almost whatever the feth you want including PvP (after speaking to me) and I will do my best to keep at least a post a day for all different entities. (I know that seems weird, but I wanted to try it out ;) )
theorythmus- I too would most likely play heathcliff's style myself.
I would suggest the paladin or a no-archtype fighter and go for TWF with sword and board.
1. As long as its fairly similar I am fine. I'd kick the same weapon group type, like hammer- axe would work. but hammer-sword is.. a lot different.
2. no, its at best a heavy shield,
3-open world so, whenever you wish, or you can PM me and we can discuss an "entrance" for your guy.

Sorry for the double post, but here's my character concept.

Background
--------------------
Mikhail does not speak of "the real world". As it does no longer exist until they can escape from this one. It might be a very cold view, but it helps him stayed focused on his task ...
Mikhail, better known in "the real world" as Jonathan Edwards, was just a college student who loved playing MMO games in his free time. Like most MMO gamers he loved building powerful and unique characters. His plan for Mikhail was no different, a stoic Defender ready to the defend the weak and fight for the cause of Good.
So it comes to no surprise that he was very excited when he was one of the select few to get in at the very start of Blades of Honor. That changed when he figured out they were stuck. His outlook quickly changed and he became focused on one goal: get to the end and get out alive!
Where in the past games like these were just a hobby for him, they now became his job. It was that or die horribly.
He spent the first weeks in the game on the front-lines, trying to help clear the game. But when he heard that there were people actually busy with killing other people, he got furious. If they weren't kept in check, there might not be enough people left to clear the game. So instead of focusing on fighting on the front-lines, he hunted down PK'ers and assisted people to level up in the game, in the hope that they might be able to help at the front-lines in the near future. He goes back to the front-lines from time to time, participating in the larger operations when they get organized.
Although people are generally happy with Mikhail's help, due to the way he is focused on the game he hasn't really made any real friends. He considered joining an Assault guild at some point, but he wanted to be able to do what he thought was needed so up to now he has been a Solo Player, grouping with some other players when the opportunity arose.
He has recently completed a quest he had been busy with for quite a while which he figured would pay off in the long run. The reason for this was that the reward for the quest was a ring which made it so that he did not need to "waste time" on eating and sleeping for a prolonged period of time.
He's now on the road looking to raise his level, helping those in need and finding more PK'ers ...
@GM, are there any items the characters start with? (Like TP crystals or anything else) I still left 1185 GP so I could buy some essentials if needed :)
@everyone, feedback is appreciated :)

Current player here.
*blink* Yanno I had said a devoted shield master was going to be amazing in this game with Roreks homebrew feats. But let me say. Holy Hell.
The AC isn't the worst of it either. Shield block nets him an opposed attack roll 4/round to negate an attack at his attack modifier +4.
pretty sure breaking his shield is the only way to actually do him harm.
Iron guards glare is a great selection for you as it still keeps you relevant when the bad guys realize you are a turtle. Plus if anyone else in the party has Iron guard up at the same time even you get the +4 ac.
I would point you toward the devoted spirit Shield Block ability that would allow you to share that utterly ridiculous shield bonus with players adjacent to you. (+16 AC to anyone you would prefer to not be hit 1/2 rounds.)
Basically making it so when the bad guys start trying to ignore you in combat that you are able to force them to fight you. Because when they have an utterly futile number like 35 to hit (42 if you happen to be fighting defensively and someone else in the party had Iron guard) they will absolutely try to go around you.
The feat has always been a hot button issue but you might consider speaking with Rorek on using the updated Antagonize as it would suit your style incredibly well.
In addition I would highly consider getting shield specialization as soon as you can. Adding your shield bonus to your CMD means you don't get sundered, tripped or bull rushed. Now you just have to worry about spells and Ref/half breath weapon spam killing you. Well that and terrian/traps. AC or no you will still die in a lava pit.
Theorythmus |
Well seeing as improved initiative and exotic weapon proficiency aren't the vital parts of my build (exotic weapon proficiency slightly more due to the fact that i can't believe the sword in the picture is just a long sword) I could take shield specialization right now. Was looking on increasing my cmd. Might look into antagonize, although I have seen the controversy around it, so I don't know.
Shield block from devoted spirit is indeed nice. Had mostly taken the 2 "healing" strikes due to the lack of healing from abilities in the game. Also not certain how much the ally would actually get due to unknown interaction with the home brew feats.
Thanks for the feedback.
Theorythmus |
You're right, think I was distracted by the fancy hilt in thinking that it would be bigger :-)
So shield specialization and antagonize instead of improved initiative and exotic weapon proficiency.
Still not certain about shield block instead of revitalising strike. Extra healing vs protecting adjacent allies?
So anything I still need to buy? Like tp crystals and other consumables?
