Gencon question - legacy of the Stonelords / paths we choose

I'm looking for someone to make me hopeful about Stonelords, as we did not have a good experience with paths.

Thursday we played "Paths we choose" in a group of only our experienced friends (not my parents mentioned in a prior post) my wife and I look for society events at cons, as they are consistent and usually fun, so we talked some of our other pathfinder playing friends into this joining us for paths. They all played society events earlier that day - Goblins, confirmations, etc and knew what to expect from an event.

Paths, was not a good event in our groups opinion. We did not have a rock star GM, but we didn't have a bad GM and he seemed to know the module. We had a group of friends that laugh and play well together, so we did what we could to enjoy it.

There seemed to be some confusion as to what was going on during the event ( our table and tables around us were guessing about the usage of the big screens, as our DMs did not know) and I know I have seen some chatter online about the delivery of the specials for Gencon.

Paths just felt like the design was rushed and the story choppy and forced. We're all signed up for stone lords tonight, but now we are all rethinking it.

I am looking for someone to make me hopeful about Stonelords. The wife and I really loved some of the previous specials.

Keep in mind that Paths is an unusual design meant to cater to your table's composition... and is something of an experiment. Also it needs to double as a single table event outside of conventions (a late change to its design).

Stonelords on the other hand, IS specifically a multi - table shared experience with contributions from each table impacting everyone. (And will be the main reason for the big screens :-) ).

I do hope you enjoy Stonelords!

Stonelords @ PaizoCon was probably the best highly-interactive special yet* (with the possible exception of Year of the Shadow Lodge). Good fun, clear goals, and overall highly anticipated. Given the playtest at PaizoCon (and reports of an extra twist), you'll probably have a great time.

*: Not counting the Convocations of course.

As one of the GMs for Paths, there was certainly some confusion regarding the table event reporting and regarding what was actually being displayed on the big screens. I certainly was unsure about what was going on. Normally, before a special, we have a brief GMs meeting, but that did not happen this time, for some reason. I wish it had - it doesn't take long, but it gets everybody on the same page.

Also, it would have been nice to get our Specials earlier this year - with a Special and a 30+ page scenario all hitting my downloads less than a week before GenCon, I certainly was not able to prep as much as I was hoping. I know, however, that Paizo becomes very frantic before GenCon. Perhaps one solution would be to start working on the GenCon scenarios earlier.
